On draught at Beer Study in Carrboro, NC. It's clear and orange-amber in color with a small, ecru cap and soapy lacing. I'm not smelling hops - just caramel malt. The taste offers a sharp contrast between sweet, bready malt and a surprisingly sharp bitterness. It is well-carbonated and the 7.4% ABV is big for the style and gives it good substance. Overall, I like to see brewers make this style and give Fullsteam credit. My issue with Cricket Hill is that it's like drinking two beers: one dominated by sweet caramel malt and the other quite bitter. It's like a roller coaster ride.
