Sampled on-tap at the brewpub in April 2005.
This Double IPA poured a clear, golden amber color with white foam that clung to the glass leaving some lacing. The smell was nicely hopped with a bit of floral hops, and was strong but not overpowering. The taste was dominated by the NW hops which were mildly resinous, but there was a good, malty backbone to this ale. The mouthfeel was smooth and dry and slightly puckering in the finish from all the hops. The body was medium-full with modest carbonation. This was a very nice double IPA, and I had more than one during this trip.

Appearance: Nice yellow crystal clear beer with a frothy and lasting head.
Smell: Nice piney hop aroma with floral notes and an earthy, redwood bark type of character.
Taste: Resin-like hop flavor with spruce or christmas tree type pine flavor. The beer has firey sap flavor with very earthy tones and a fruity, sweet, bark-like ending.
Mouthfeel: Clean and smooth and well-balanced on the palate.
Drinkability: Very young but very drinkable. A few months will make this an excellent beer.
