22oz bottle
Imperial nonic style glass – 09/12/15
Bright gold with a whitewashed straw appearance. Mostly clear and just a touch of haze. Dense snowy white cap with some fair retention and lightly scattered swaths of lace noticed.
Wheat malts/grains with citrusy hops – orange peel and lemon grass. Peppery spices and an earthy yeast note.
Tastes of wet grains, orange peel, lemon grass, cracker, pepper spice, light clove/banana, and earthy minerals. Lightly watery on the finish but with a good amount of drying crisp.
This is light and crisp with some fair Wit flavor but doesn’t provide much beyond that. I was hoping for some sort of uber hop Knee Deep concoction but this pretty straight and mellow.

22oz bottle - I presume by the label imagery that this will be a hopped to the nuts witbier?
This beer pours a clear, pale golden yellow colour, with three fat fingers of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat bubbly bone-white head, which leaves a few swaths of approaching avalanche lace around the glass as it gently subsides.
It smells of semi-sweet, bready wheat malt, coriander and white pepper spice, earthy and slightly phenolic yeast, some muddled citrus zest, and maybe a hint of warming alcohol. The taste is grainy and doughy pale malt, a lesser zingy wheatiness, sugary coriander, ephemeral black pepper dust, edgy Belgian yeast, very tame citrusy notes, and a further bit of metallic booziness.
The carbonation is quite sturdy in its palate-lifting frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and mostly smooth, just a wee beasty yeastiness perhaps not as slick as it should be. It finishes off-dry, the mixed malt carrying on like it owns the place - all other lingerers need not apply.
Overall, I'm not seeing what's particularly American about this offering - it's malty, and lightly fruity and spicy, which is fairly true to style, making it easy enough to drink. Maybe it's just the Yankee marketing trope of throwing hops into every label pun and image that they can - you know, emulating the brewers (usually) themselves.

Crowler poured into a Knee Deep Brewing Co tulip
A: Pours golden straw with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and leaves a little spotty lacing.
S: Wheat, citrus zest, a bit spicy, and a little Belgian yeast.
T: Slightly tart wheat twang, a little spice, citrus zest, a touch of Belgian yeast, and a faint kinda metallic note.
M: Light to medium body, moderate carbonation.
O: Drinkable wit, but there are definitely better out there.

Poured from 22 oz bottle into my trusty glass mug. Born on 5/13/15 and at 1 year old doesn't show its age. Unfiltered amber colour with plenty of head and nice lacing. Smells of mild hops and citrus. Takes very much like a combination of Belgian Witbier and a West Coast Session IPA. Goes down very smooth with a mild wheat aftertaste. Prost!

Handsome tall pile of sticky foam in the narrow Kolsch glass. Very spritzy on the tongue. Aromatic with the cardamon. Yeast sediment in the bottle. Some warm and wheaty flavors. Fairly strong with citrus, though pleasantly so.
A drinkable but not memorable American-style Wit. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Port Bottle Shop in Carlsbad. Bottled 9/25/14, so this has lasted well enough. The cartoon label shows a pile of hop cones, but apparently they are just for decoration.

A nice American take on the wit. It's a touch cleaner, no big vanilla, but still has a yeasty element. Mild earthy hops replace the usual earthy spice. It's also a bit more crisp. Pleasant to drink, but don't expect Allagash White.
