Clear pale golden color with a light white head. Aroma of melons, grapes, and resin. This isn't my preferred hop profile. Malts are lacking as a backdrop. Taste about the same as it smells. With some of that good cat litter flavor. Finishes with a hanging bitterness. Not overpowering. Mouthfeel is light. Overall, my intuition told me I wouldn't like this beer very much and I wish I hadn't bought a 4 pack of it. Knee deep makes some of my favorite IPA's, but I don't think i'll be re-visiting this one.

Poured from a can -clear medium gold, white head, minimal lacing. Nose is lots of hops. Taste is piney and bitter. Finish is almost dry. A very competent WC IPA but nothing we haven't had before.

jeez i wanted to like this more than i do. an underwhelming brew in a crowded and high quality category.
L: very clear yellow-orange with a decent head that dissipates quickly.
S: decent part of the beer. piney with some honey, fruit, and sweetness
T: disappointing. just not much big flavor. hoppy bitterness is distinct but i was hoping for some other IIPA notes.
F: thin and almost watery.
what a shame... shoulda waited for more reviews to come in.

Poured aggressively into a Teku. 2 fingers of head, weak lacing that quickly diminishes. Clear amber golden glow. Great IPA. Pretty well balanced taste, plenty of bitterness that rounds off with some sweetness. Smells like a standard IPA. Citrus notes and pine trees. This is a great IPA but uninteresting in an over crowded market. Even with how fresh I was able to get it, it didn't do enough for me to have me seek this out again in the future. I think I prefer their Hoptologist brew to this one.

Picked up a 16 oz single from the Craft Beer Hop Stop cooler 9-12-19 for $4.49. Canned on 8-6-19; consumed on 11-19-19. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured a clear dark gold with a large white head that has some great hang time.
Initial nose of grapefruit and passion fruit start off nicely but became mostly floral with subsequent sniffs.
Taste is classic WCIPA with the grapefruit and earthy hops melded in well with the significant pale malt base. Finishes with some piney bitterness; 7/10 on my scale.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and pretty smooth and refreshing.
Overall a solid beer, don't get to sample too many WCIPA's these days!

Thrilled to be first review of Splurge from Auburn CA, the gold rush town where I won my first cycling criterium. (getting back to my cycling weight now)
a) hazed pour at NYC's Rattle N Hum. sports a lasting, lacing head.
s) Modest, clean, grassy.
t) Rich complex, with floral/herbal notes dominant in waves over the fruit.
f) Great body weight. Pleasing. ABV well hidden.
o) Fine Sierra craft
