Notes: This light bodied, single-hopped Mosaic IPA is bursting with aromas of ripe summer berries, citrus and passion fruit. Flavorful enough to sip, and smooth enough to crush.

CANother triumphal pic uploaded & approved for The CANQuest (tm)! I am in the midst of a delving horizontal that will take me knee deep into Knee Deep. This is the seCANd of five that I have for this mission.

From the CAN: "100% Mosaic-Hopped"; "41 IBU"; "This light bodied, single-hopped Mosaic IPA is bursting with aromas of ripe summer berries, citrus and passion fruit. Flavorful enough to sip, and smooth enough to crush."

I was VERY curious to try yet CANother single-hop AIPA so I beCAN with a Crack! of the vent, followed by a slow, steady, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. I was rewarded with the formation of just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with good retention. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5), making me wonder if it was a chill haze from my overly cool reefer. Hmm. Nose was very tropical, but I would have said papaya & guava before passionfruit. By citrus, they meant grapefruit & orange/tangerine. Finally, on the back end, I got raspberries. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was a fruity riot in my mouth! It was like fruit salad with everybody vying for my attention all at once! I liked it, but I CAN now understand why Mosaic is often paired with at least one other hops variety, like Simcoe. It was a jangly mélange of fruit flavors, ranging from citrus to tropical to berries & while interesting, I was having difficulty parsing one from CANother. It was exactly as described in the Notes, but it lacked focus as a result. Finish was semi-dry & the lingering aftertaste was blueberries & raspberries. 8=O I have to admit, I was impressed. YMMV.

Presentation: 12 oz. can with the canning date printed on the bottom. Served in a tulip glass.

Appearance: The one and a half finger head stays around for a while and leaves behind a thin foam layer that stays until the end and a lot of patchy lacing. It's a beautiful, clear, bright gold color.

Smell: The aroma is faint, with just a hint of citrus fruit and some grains.

Taste: There's fresh grapefruit pulp along with a zesty, waxy, grapefruit peel note as well. Along with some other fruity flavors of tangerine and a hint of lemon. There are also some earthy, slightly herbal notes in the background and very present bitterness in aftertaste as well.

Mouthfeel: It's light to medium bodied and refreshing but with a certain stickiness in the palate. Carbonation is medium low.

Overall: A very good, classic, hop forward IPA that doesn't exactly slap you in the face with with any bold aromas or flavors. It's subtle and enjoyable which is nice to see these days.

I would never have guessed this is an all mosaic hoped ale.
It's dank, herbaceous, resinous. I would say more chinook than mosaic but anyway this is great. Alongside the resinous hoppiness which I love, this has some berries and lemon notes.
The mouthfeel is great with a crisp finish and a moderate carbonation.
This is a great ipa. 6.5% abv? You're kidding me. I would say it's 4.5%!

Golden straw color with a bubbly head. Clear body. Nice glow. Cool aroma of jackfruit, passionfruit, guava, and a blueberry. Taste is slightly hoppy with only a slight bitter finish. The feel of the beer is slightly resiny. The malts are light. This beer can be quaffed easily. It goes down like a 4% abv beer even though it clocks in at 6.5 abv. I would really enjoy putting back a few of these on a hot day in the sun.

Slooow Mo pours a crystal clear, golden yellow with a one finger head that's tight knit and foamy leaving some spotty lacing. The smell is dank pine with some herbal notes and tropical fruit with a hint of crackery malt. The taste screams Mosaic! Dank with nice tropical fruit, accompanied by citrus and a hint of grassy, floral notes

Love the nose on this one and the pretty amber color and head are a plus....taste was very good, but wishing it delivered more given my prior compliments...still, very good and the best I have had from this brewer to date.

If you look up "Slomo" or "Slow Mo Mission Beach" you can read about the retired neurologist the beer is named for. The label shows a hideous cartoon demon, but the background is a photo of Pacific Beach on the boardwalk.

The beer pours a clear yellow with plenty of foam in the Crooked Line tulip. Sparkly mouthfeel with a slightly acidic tang. Aromatic with zingy lemon peel and guava. Some hints of malt and crackers. Stoned Wheat thins to be exact. The piney, woody notes follow and the finish is slightly bitter. Overall this has enough hops and bitterness to be in the IPA ballpark. Aftertaste gets more astringent and stemmy, marring the pleasure somewhat. The 12 oz can is dated 09/24/2018 on the bottom ring.

12 oz can. Pours clear dark gold with a medium creamy white head that retains fairly well and laces the glass.

The aroma is bready malt with piney, resiny, dank hops.

The flavor is sweet bready malts and a little fruit with piney, resiny, slightly metallic, bitter hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a nice IPA.

Poured from can into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a clear golden amber color with a one finger head of fizzy white foam. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a light level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the brew is a mix of pine, some floral smells, as well as a moderately strong smell of tropical fruits. Along with these aromas comes some notes of berry and a little bit of a bready smell.

Taste – The taste begins with a tropical fruit flavor that has a nice bready base. Upfront the hop flavor is mainly of a grapefruit nature that has some other hop tastes of herb and grass. As the taste advances some graininess joins the taste profile along with more grass and hay. The fruitiness really falls away at the end of the taste, and with the increase in grapefruit hop, one is left with a seeming moderately diversely hoppy (for a single hop brew) taste to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the average side in terms of thickness and chewiness with a carbonation level that is rather average as well. For the taste profile it is pretty decent and make for a rather easy drinking brew.

Overall – An alright IPA overall. Easy to drink, not too sweet, not too hoppy, but also not too out of the ordinary. A nice try, but nothing all that fantastic.

Poured from a 12oz can with a canned on date of 10/5/18; into a pub glass.
Appearance- clear, bright gold with a tremendous storm of bubbles holding a thick, foamy white head; leaves rings of sticky lacing!
Smell- freshly mowed grass, pine and hints of citrus fruit.
Taste- fruit flavors are more at the forefront with passion fruit and grapefruit holding any grass and pine at bay!
Feel- light medium body, easy to drink with just the right amount of bitterness on the palate!
Overall- quality ipa, that plays it safe, but does it well with out over thinking it!

Canned on 9/5/18. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours golden with great transparency; white head that fades leaving solid retention and lacing. The mosaic hops come through in the aromas, but they're on the subtle side. Some berries. Some bread and crackers. Some malts. The flavors are crisp and refreshing. Lots of fresh grass. More cracker notes. Subtle hints of tropical fruits. Moderate bitterness. Malts seem to take a backseat. Finishes clean and dry. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is very nice. It's on the lighter side of medium-bodied with sharp active carbonation. It's pretty smooth and easy to drink.

This is a solid IPA. I personally don't put it up there with some of Knee Deep's acclaimed hoppy beers, but it's still solid. It's a clean, crisp, sharp and refreshing brew. Not bad at all.

A thanks to the founding father of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a deak golden coor with a 1 inch head. Smell is of pine, some tropical fruits. Taste is dank, pine, a bit of citrus, moderate bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a pretty good beer, but I was expecting a bit more.

Picked up a 6 pack of this stuff from the Speedway gas station in Fallon, NV (best selection in town btw). Pours a lighter than average yellow with very slight haze and a 1/3" white head. The aroma pops hard on the Mosaic, really good, did the ol' head jerk back like oh fug yes here we go boys. All the juicy dank tropical fruit notes going on. Humid tropical jungle flava flav in the nose.

The taste is simple crushability. Is this a smash beer? The super light toasted 2 row (a guess) seems so out of the way and light, while the Mosaic hop just satiates the hop thirst big time, just waves of that juicy tropical dankness along the lines of your favorite herbal skunk as well. Lots of greenery to this one, pine being the lesser aspect of it.

This is a real good beer with almost no fanfare/hype behind it. I mean sure, Knee Deep's dumb ass mascot isn't exactly the elite marketing on the level of DeBeers Mines, but damn, the stuff inside the can sure is good. At $2 a can, all the hazebois are free to keep paying $4-5 for their tallboys in line. I'm good with this.

Overall I will definitely have this again when I can (no pun intended), because it was super refreshing and a perfect balance of cracker malts and mosaic hops!

T: The taste has flavors of citrus and passionfruit along with a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.

Type: 12-oz. can
Glass: Clear 16.5-oz. Belgian ale tulip
From: Bine & Vine Bottle Shop in Normal Heights (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $2.24 (because of 10 percent off for a variety 6-pack)

Consumed: March 31, 2018
Reviewed as: American IPA
Misc.: No canned on date

Picked this up with five others at Bine & Vine to get the 10 percent off, and a 6-pack of Firestone Lager. This would be my sixth beer from Knee Deep which, except for Hoptologist DIPA, I’ve really enjoyed. Was super excited to see this for the first time anywhere, a 100 percent Mosaic-Hopped IPA. Description online read, “This light bodied, single hopped Mosaic IPA is bursting with aromas of ripe summer berries, citrus and passionfruit. Flavorful enough to sip, and smooth enough to crush.”

Poured an amber, clear color with to 2-to-3 fingers of off-white rocky head. Lots of bubbles coming up at various parts of the glass. Excellent foamy lacing. World-class foamy retention. (Sight - 4.25)

Straight Mosaic on the first whiff and not that trash Mosaic, but the good floral kind. Also floral, berry, papaya, grass, dank pine and pineapple. Nothing else added from the can. (Smell - 4.25)

Taste wasn’t nearly as good as the nose, but had similar characteristics. Got Mosaic, papaya, floral, grass, dank pine, passion fruit, berry and pineapple. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, dry finish. (Feel - 4.25)

Liked this beer a lot. Grew on me as it went down. Excellent. (Overall - 4.25)

Crystal clear, orange brew with a fluffy white head that stays around for a bit. The aroma is mango, grass, pine and a little bubblegum. Light sweetness with a lot of mango and citrus flavors. Ends both sweet and bitter with that bubblegum flavor and some pine. This is a nice and tasty mosaic hopped beer.

Canned 2/22/18, consumed 3/17/18

Poured crystal clear honey colored with a small inch head that left a small amount of lacing.

Aroma is a strong whiff of citrus & tropical fruits with a good amount of dank hop notes and some pine too. Great, full typical West Coast IPA aroma.

Taste follows aroma, seemingly a bit lighter than the aroma suggested.

Mouthfeel is light-medium, maybe a bit thin for the ABV, low bitterness that lingers a bit, good carbonation, dry finish.

Overall, it seems to drink easier like a light but strives to maintain all the flavor and ABV of a regular IPA. I prefer slightly more body, but I would certainly recommend trying this - you could easily down a few of these quick, especially if you're fond of Mosaic hops.
