A strong Scotch ale aged in Brandy barrels for 5 months. The barrel aging imparts notes of vanilla, pear, caramel, and soft chocolate onto the toffee, plums, and currants of the ale’s strong body.

Appearance: Pours an incredibly dark brown/almost black color, with a quarter of a finger of white head that quickly dissolved into a thin lacing of foam that covered the entire top of the beer.
Aroma: Lots of roasted malt, dark molasses and slight hints of liquorish. Because this beer has been aged in barrels which once contained brandy, there are also strong notes of alcohol, oak, oranges, vanilla and caramel.
Taste: Awesome!! Nice and malty up front, followed by some brown sugar and caramel-like sweetness. Because of the aging in the brandy barrels, there are also strong notes of burnt sugar and orange peel, oak and vanilla. Everything is nicely balanced with some hoppy bitterness. Excellent beer!
Mouthfeel: Chewy and smoooth. Hardly nothing what-so-ever in the way of carbonation, but that could be because I was drinking this out of a growler a week after I had purchased it. With an ABV of at least 10%, I don’t know the actual amount, there is a very strong warming presence of alcohol on the palate.
Overall: Jesus, this is an excellent beer! I love the balance between the base wee heavy flavors and the flavors that the aging in the brandy barrels imparts. Very unique, and very delicious! Beautiful beer!
