The pours a very nice creamy head that dissipates quickly. The beer itself is a nice dark black color and opaque. The beer has a nice heavy texture to it but with a bit of thinness as well.
The beer smell is very good. It has a nice strong sweet dark chocolate note peppered with a nice light roast to take the sweet edge off of it. The beer also has a nice and moderate hop note with a dry pine smell to it. It isn't overwhelming but it's a nice contrast to it.
The taste is pretty good because of how fairly sweet it is but is more complex and interesting than someone would expect. It has strong dark chocolate notes that are sweet. In addition, the beer has has a slightly stronger roast note that is supported and enhanced by pine hop bitterness. Furthermore, there is a good bourbon note that adds a dimension to it but isn't super strong such that it overwhelms the other notes.
The beer has a good body on it. It has a heavy body with a silky feel that makes it feel lighter than it should be. Overall, it a very nice and delightful good feel for the heavy body.
OVerall, this is a pretty good beer and worth getting while it's available. It's a nice heavy body with some good strength to it.
