On tap at brewery:
Definitely an intended mild at some level, the lighter (while still deep amber) color led me to pale mild classification.
So... a deep but enticingly clear despite its darker than pale color. Looking from atop the beer, the head would prevent you from knowing this fact. Lacing is unsurprisingly strong given the previous statement,
Nose is mostly a light toasty note, and if I had to debate the lean of the scents that aren’t overly forthcoming, I’d go lightly roasted nuts.
A very clean amber, lightly toasted, mildly zesty orange marmalade flavor all comes out early. Bitterness counters, mostly neutral, but exposed a cherry and berry note - similarly neutral on the sweet/tart spectrum. A little grainy back, as things clear out.
I have to wonder if this is on cask. Balance in the name of the game here - with nuance acting as flair. Assuming you’re already debating a mild... if you might like a toasty malt brew that has some intricacies, I’d be interested how you like this one.
