Beer is a pale amber bordering on a brownish orange. It's a little on the light side for the style. Smell has a very nice floral note that mixes well with the caramel notes. However, the taste is a too hoppy and floral with a malt note that's a little too light. The body is medium body but on the lighter side. Not bad but needs a bit more malt.

Review entered from notes. Draft at the brewpub into a tall lager glass. The beer is a clear, lighter copper in color with a low white head. A light, grainy malt body carries some caramel notes, bread, and a red apple sweetness. Lighter in body with a moderate carbonation. The beer is fairly light and, as other have said, focuses on the grain aspect. Balance and more character would aid this. Slight grassy hop note and a low bitterness on the finish. An okay to good oktoberfest.

On tap at Mad Fox last night. Served in a pilsner glass.
Pours a very clear light copper color with a thin white head and a bit of lacing on the way down. The nose carries very light caramel along with a bit of bready grain. Light floral and earthy hops in the background, leading to a well-rounded marzen. The flavor is hit a bit too hard by the grain aspect of the beer without anything really rounding it out. Nice and simple, though not thoroughly enjoyable. Light and crisp body with a very mild bitterness. Pretty good, but a bit too thin and in need of a bit more malt and hop character.

From the menu: "Mad Fox Oktoberfest Lagerbier brings a bit of Munich Oktoberfest to Falls Church. We start with German Pilsner, Vienna and Munich malts and German Hersbrucker hops and ferment with a Bavarian lager yeast. This produces a deep burnished gold colored beer with a rich toasty malt aroma and flavor and enough hops to keep the malt in cheek with a beautiful, highly drinkable balance. Prosit!"
Had on tap this afternoon at lunch.
a - Pours a somewhat transparent dark golden color with one inch of white head and high carbonation evident. Some light lacing left on the glass.
s - Smells of wheat, grain, bready malts, and some sweet fruit or corn. A good deal sweeter than the taste, but nice.
t - Tastes of wheat, grain, sweet bready malts. Very bready and grainy, but not bad.
m - Light to medium body and moderate carbonation.
o - Overall a decent Oktoberfest beer. A little lacking in the nose and a lot of grain and bready malts, but overall nice and easy to drink. Would try it again.
