100% HBC-342 Hops, a yet unnamed experimental hop created by Hop Breeding Company. Nice hop complexity, tropical and melon notes balanced by earthy tones and dry herbal finish. Malt balances the hop payload with toffee, dark caramel and English dunking biscuit.
From 12/31/12 notes. On tap at the brewpub, served in a pint glass.
a - Pours a reddish orange color with one inch of white head and moderate carbonation evident.
s - Smells of citrus, orange, fruity malts, pine hops, grapefruit. Nice fruity and hoppy nose; like it quite a bit.
t - Tastes of citrus hops, floral hops, light pine, grapefruit, earthy notes. Taste is still good though not quite as flavorful or hoppy as the nose. A step down for me.
m - Medium body and low to moderate carbonation. No bitterness and easy to drink.
o - Overall a good IPA, though not as good as their wet hop IPA or Orange Whip/ Nice fruity and hoppy nose though the taste loses a little bit. Easy to drink and worth checking out, I'd have it again.
