a: served in a small snifter with a thin cap of off-white carbonation, the beer a deep, dark reddish brown in color, average retention
s: deep red and caramel malts make for a sturdy, sweetly toasted aroma with a hoppy nose of pine and citrus, some darker fruit sugars, good start
m: carbonation on the low end of moderate, body medium-full with a nice malty weight
t: sweet red malts bring flavors of caramel apple and fruity sugars, moderately sweet middle with good flavors of citric and pine hops, malts dominate here but hops are strong enough to provide good balance, moderately bitter to finish
o: a nice imperial red ale without the overly sweet or overly hopped side that some in the style suffer from, just good balance and flavor, drinks very well
