One of my favorite dark sours, along with Sante Adairius' Zuur Cafe #3. Modestly tart, with chocolate and dark fruit tones underneath. Really nice beer.

On tap at Basin 141 in Montrose, CA.
Pours a murky dark brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Thin streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is sour with toasted malt, dark fruit, balsamic vinegar, and acidic aromas. Taste is much the same with sour malt, dark fruit, earth, and acidic flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with nice sour and dark fruit aspects that are slightly better in the smell to me.
Serving type: on tap.
