Had on-tap at Fathers Office in Santa Monica. This was served ice cold, I had to buy another beer and wait for this to warm up. I absolutely positive that the subzero temperature of this brew contributed to severely lowering its score. At first taste it was sickenly sweet cherry juice, but after letting it warm, it became much more approachable. I do not quite know if this a barley wine or a dopplebock, but have been convinced by my drinking mates that this was indeed a dopplebock.
Red wine aroma, with cherries. Extremely viscous, alcohol aparrent, however after letting it warm, the harshness of the alcohol went away entirely. Wine licorice, cherries, brandy-flavor.
