Collaboration between Craftsman and songwriter Matt Kivel. Described as a smoked Winter ale brewed with peat.
Pours a murky super dark brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of smoked malt, campfire, adhesive bandage, earth, molasses, and caramel aromas. Taste is much the same with toast, smoked meat, campfire, caramel, and earth flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a very nice smoke forward presence that still allows other aspects of the beer to come out as well.
Serving type: bottle.
