Dark brown, thin lighter brown head, 1/5". Good chocolate and vanilla aroma. A little bit of alcohol heat as well.

Taste is more chocolate, absorbs the alcohol better than it did in the aroma. That's really its thing, lots of chocolate, big beer that drinks a little easier given the chocolate and sweetness. Like a blend of big beer styles too.

On tap at Bruery Annaversary party. Reviewed from notes. 4oz pour in 5oz glass.

Super black in color. Tan ring for head. Slight lacing.

Aroma is very roasty. Bit of caramel and chocolate.

Taste is nice and roasty but with a decent caramel maltiness. Some nice dark fruits in there too like a Belgian quad. Bit of chocolate.

Mouthfeel is very smooth. Higher carb

Overall a pretty tasty beer. It wasn't super special but I really liked it. Hope to have it again soon.

Draft. Pours a dark black/brown color with a tan mocha head. The aroma is rich with notes of molasses, leather, booze, oak, and chocolate. Being a blend with barleywine I guess I expected a slight hoppiness in the nose but no, that is not there. Surprisingly, this isn’t as flavorful as I thought it would be. Molasses, toasted caramel, chocolate, vanilla, and bourbon are all there but neither one or the other dominates. The end falls a little apart for me. Ends rather dry. Medium/heavy mouthfeel.

This stuff is like a chocolate stout + barleywine + quad. Comes out a dark brown, thin head ring. Chocolate aroma. Some vanilla and alcohol to it. Enjoyable.

Chocolate really drowns out the alcohol thankfully. Becomes the predominant flavor in the beer, reminiscient of the cuadruple at times from the Bruery (where I sampled this beer). Would definitely purchase this beer if it was bottled.

On-tap at the Provisions Store, a blend of Edgar and their barleywine,

A: Pours a deep motor oil brown to black with a firm brown head, solid lace and head retention.

S: Strong sweet nose with lots of vanilla and molasses.

T: Chocolate brownies are what this makes me think about. Chocolate and brown sugar. A rich flavour, very malty.

M: Full-bodied, big but smooth, and not cloying, not boozy at all.

D: Another dynamite effort from Craftsman, good showing today. One of the most approachable big beers I've had lately, but still with a depth of flavour.
