On Tap
Churchill's Pub & Grille
San Marcos, CA
Slightly hazed light orange with a thin white head. This leaves small dots of stick down the glass. Unspectacular, but appropriate.
White wine/grapes and oak present in the aroma immediately, along with mild citrus, and some yeast character.
The flavor follows similarly; white wine, grapes, oak, and citrus combine nicely, along with a moderate level of sourness, and some bitterness.
Medium bodied with moderate carbonation.
A great, moderately sour, beer for white wine lovers.

A hazy golden orange color with a white head. Intense fruitiness on the nose. Lots of pineapple, tropical fruits, citrus, and melon (mostly cantaloupe). A moderate tartness and a bit of grass and green apple. The flavor isn’t all that tart, but the great fruit character is still there. Not too much funk to it, a bit of white wine, and maybe some oak. Really a nice beer.

On tap at The Surly Goat in West Hollywood, CA.
Pours a slight murky orange with a tan head that settles to an oily film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is sour, tart, funky, and woody. Taste is very much the same with a sharp and acidic flavor on the finish. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good sour beer but the flavor is the slightest bit harsh and unbalanced.

On-tap at The Surly Goat, on to the beer:
Brighter orange colored with yellow hues. A few streaks of lace leaves their marks in the glass. The nose offers a cherry-like tartness, and that's not bad. Moving on to the taste, it's not a totally sour beer. It offers some rustic notes with some sourness. Vague fruit and a hint fo tobacco are included. There's a sharp, stabbling character that interupts the beer, killing off some of the appeal. Whatevers, this sour is alright. You gotta take the good with the bad in this one.
