On tap at Lucky Baldwins Trappiste in Pasadena, CA.

Pours a murky orange-brown with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, wheat, and slightly sour lime aromas. Taste is much the same with wheat, lime, and spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a nice lime presence that comes through especially well in the smell.

Sweet and tangy, and totally delicious. On tap at Local Habit in San Diego. Cloudy amber in the big tulip with a darker color than most Witbiers I've seen.

The malt taste like it borrows from Craftsman's estimable Hefeweizen, with sweet malt and plenty of bananas along with a big nose of cloves. This was a new twist for me on the Wit variations, but the lime is just the touch of citrus to make this work. It starts off being more tangy and sprightly, but the spices do wear after a while. That's my only qualm, the strong coriander and clove combo, in an otherwise super brew. The lime flavors melt into the the mellow maltiness with some bitterness from the rind and the spice. Another winner from Craftsman.
