Pours a clear super dark crimson-brown with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, dark fruit, brown sugar, and spices. Taste is much the same with fruity and spice flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium boded mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with some solid aromas and flavors.

Deep brown-black color in the chunky chalice with a nice cap of foam. Adequately fizzy on the tongue. Hugely flavorful. The dark malt and every kind of sweetness pound you into submission from the first sip. More of a Barley Wine that's been overpowered by a very strong Belgian.
Hops in the mix gradually emerge for a bitter and woody aftertaste. Yeasty flavors also come out from under the malt, and it all dries out toward the finish, surprisingly enough for all the sugar. It's a nice balance, going from sweet to dry with such a load of tastes. Flavors of dates, dried figs, raisins, and orange marmalade. Lots of burnt sugar and darkness.
