7.9% ABV confirmed. Served on-draught at a bar in Silverlake into a 25cl stem-tulip. Cost was $8 USD plus tax and tip. Expectations are high given the brewery. Reviewed from notes taken last night.

A: Pours a quarter finger head of beige-khaki colour. Recedes to a floater ring in about 15 seconds. Decent thickness. Not much creaminess. No bubble show. Horrid retention.

Body colour is a dark opaque ruby-amber. No yeast particles are visible. Semitranslucent. It’s an attractive appearance for a beer. Appealing for the style.

Sm: Nice lacto sourness. No wild lambic/pedio yeast or bacteria is detectable. Fruit – I guess persimmon, but currants and cherries do come to mind. Clean unobtrusive neutral malts and barley. No floral hop character is obvious; I think the hopping here is purely preservative. No alcohol is detectable. A bit clinical and clean for the style; there’s nothing spontaneous or particularly alive about it. Pleasant tartness. An aroma of mild to moderate strength. Attractive and inviting.

T: Tart persimmon fruit with nice lacto sourness. No lambic/pedio yeast or brettanomyces. It’s not a funky taste by any means. Clean barley and neutral malts provide the unobtrusive foundation. Red grapeskin. Currants; well executed. The flavor profile does seem a bit empty in the second act, lacking sustained flavor duration or novel notes. No alcohol or hop character comes through. Balanced, if a bit simple for the style. It almost uses lacto as a bit of a crutch. Decent subtlety. A biteen too sugary and sweet, but it’s tolerable.

Mf: Smooth and wet. Lightly crisp. Strangely carbonated; certainly a bit overdone but above all else just wrong for the style – I doubt it was naturally carbonated. Nice body and presence on the palate. Not real puckering. Suits the flavor profile well.

Dr: Hides its ABV well. Drinkable and enjoyable for the style. I dig the persimmon. Another nice sour from Craftsman; I’d get it again at a better price. I’ve had far better, but for a local sour I’ll take it. Looking forward to trying more Craftsman offerings.

On tap at Haven in the Plaza in Orange, CA.

Not very promising. Kinda looks like liquid krush (tha homies will feel me on that one). Smell is about as redeeming as an Olson twin's career post Danny Tanner. Hold on, Raul just went in for another whiff... Well, if the toilet gets clogged in this place, Raul knows what they can use as Draino.

Run, my children. Run to your mommas and fast!
