Drank on tap at Lulu’s Allston, Allston, MA
Served in a tulip
Viscous, near pitch black appearance. The oily looking body was topped by a tight, creamy, finger-tall, caramel colored crown that quickly dropped to a thin collar. No lacing whatsoever.
The aroma was surprisingly nondescript. Roasted malts dominated. There was a slight metallic quality as well. As the beer warmed, a touch of caramel-like sweetness appeared. Subtle boozy/barrel notes were also detectable.
The flavor profile was far more interesting and complex than the nose. Big roasted malt presence up front. Some caramel-like sweetness also came through strong. Espresso notes appeared in the center. Touch of maple. Sweet but not excessively so. Perhaps some vanilla as well. More roastiness on the back end and the finish. There was a noticeable bourbon/whiskey barrel quality too.
The mouthfeel was outstanding. Full bodied for the style. Super creamy and dense, like heavy whipping cream. The liquid contained a fine, fairly subdued effervescence that complimented the viscosity of the liquid perfectly.
Toppling Goliath’s stouts are always fantastic, and Term Oil 19-C was no exception. In a age where basically every notable stout contains a slew of adjuncts, it was refreshing to try one that excelled without doing so.

On Tap Pours a thick black color with a tan heads.Smell is vanilla with a prominent barrel. Taste was smooth mellow barrel mixed with chocolate and vanilla. Mouth feel is a thick bodied BA Stout that was a pleasure to drink.

On tap. Little head. Black color.
Sweeter than 19-B and less barrel flavor. Has more of a vanilla and maple sweetness. Fudge and chocolate. Chocolate chip cookies. Full bodied. Great flavors. Very enjoyable.
