Appearance - The beer was slick black in appearance with no carbonation visible.
Smell - Chocolate notes came through with citrus and tequila also present.
Taste - at the front, there were notes of chocolate and molasses. This was followed by citrus and liked tequila. The barrel itself provided woody notes with vanilla and a dry sensation.
Mouthfeel - I was somewhat disappointed as the body was a bit thin. Still, it coded the mouth nicely.
Overall - I would have liked the opportunity to try this fresh.

From bottle. Pours a thick, viscous black liquid with absolutely no foam at all on even aggressive pour. No ring on edge of glass either. The aroma is plenty barrel heavy with a noticeable tequila influence. That's not to say it was totally dominating the base of the beer, but it was definitely there. However, the taste was excellent. There was absolutely no tequila booziness or anything of the sort, but just residual sweetness which somehow almost entirely eliminated the dark fruit flavor commonly associated with the more recent Assassin releases. The feel is also on the thicker side.
This was a great beer overall. As a tequila barrel aged beer, this is easily the best. There's balance here and it all works.
