Notes: Stranded on a desolate road with nothing but the backpack that reminds him it wasn’t always like this. Lavish parties, mansions, and fountains of hazy IPA used to be the norm. He didn’t choose the Ferrari lifestyle. It chose him. It may escape him now, but this stallion will ride again. We vibed out with our compadres at Lua Brewing Company to manifest liquid opulence. Brewed with a pretentiously golden aesthetic, loaded with luxuriously oil-laden hops, and soft as thousand thread count sheets. Drink fresh. Pinkies out.

Hops: Riwaka, Strata, Citra, Sabro, & Amarillo

Call it "Unfiltered," but it's as cloudy a beer as I've ever seen. Sort of grayish yellow with a ring of foam in the snifter. Very sweet and juicy. Orange slush with canned peaches and a twist of lemon peel. Can't fault the super-fruity aroma of papaya and pineapple with citrus chaser.

Overall this is more New England than not, but let's just say it's a high-octane murk bomb. Less acidic than most of the NE brethren but still unpleasantly harsh. From the 16 oz can purchased at some southern California big box. Dated 06/10/21 and they have the decency to add a "best by" date that is only a month past.

Thick looking delishous orange with an okay head, some lacing.
Bold floral boutique, fruit stands out.
Mmmmm! resinous pine, passion fruits, mango, pineapple.

Pours a hazy orange with thick, fluffy head.

Smell is juicy and fruity with notes of passionfruit, lime, pineapple and hints of coconut and grass.

Taste is juicy with a solid bitterness. Notes of passionfruit, cactus, lime, coconut and grass. Hints of orange sorbet on the finish.

Mouthfeel is medium, soft and pillowy with good carbonation.

Overall, a terrific DIPA, as usual from TG.

16oz can fill date 5/14/21 into a large snifter.
L: Pours a hazy thick yellow-gold dust orange with a thick pock-marked 1" off white eggshell head that has good retention and some lacing. It is gently carbonated.
S: Tropical fruits, orange pith, papaya, tang, coconut, pineapple, tangerine, a hint of alcohol as the beer warms, light biscuit malt.
T: Tangy tangerine, peach, papaya, tart orange, lime & lemon zest, apricot, sweet caramel and pine at the end. It is slightly oily, moderately tart and lightly bitter overall. There's a slight hint of grass, no alcohol burn and it is sweet tasting on the lips.
F: Medium-heavy bodied with an initially brisk then plush mouthfeel. It has a medium-long finish, is very lightly chewy and slightly drying.
O: It's a bit sweet AND sour in many good ways. Zesty citrus and multiplicity of fruit flavors create a commanding taste that disguises the 7.8%ABV quite well. An excellent Double IPA.

Pours cloudy gold color with an off white one finger silky head. Pungent stonefruit notes on the nose, maybe a touch of jolly rancher. Taste is similar with dense nectarine and orange notes as well as a touch of candied sweetness in the finish. Feel is very soft and creamy with a light to moderate bitterness in the finish. Very good, maybe a touch more piquant than a typical NEIPA but well made.

From the bottom of the can: "PKG05/14/21 BEST BY 09/11/21"

Appearance: The body of the beer is a solid gold and it is very hazy to the point where shadowy shapes can be seen through the glass but no clear details can be made out. It has a medium-large sized white head that is fluffy and has very good retention. There are various bubble sizes over the surface of the beer and it seems to last forever.

Aroma: There are vegetal notes along with a bit of mint. There is also a hint of caramel and a light bit of alcohol. It isn't the best smelling beer.

Taste: Up front there is a very sweet flavor mixed with a light bit of pine and spruce tip. It tastes a bit like sugar syrup or inverted sugar mixed with some spruce. It's very sweet up front. The middle of the mouth mellows out quite a bit but there is some residual sweetness. Some lingering pine character pops up on the middle of the palate. There's a bit of menthol and old ice flavor in the aftertaste.

Mouthfeel: It's a very sweet beer with a body that teeters on the edge of medium and medium-light. It has a good bitterness but it only appears in the aftertaste. The body doesn't really match the flavor of the beer.

Overall: It's drinkable but it feels haphazardly thrown together. The combination of overt sweetness and the light bitterness makes the beer feel way too sweet and very mismatched. It's not a beer I'd drink again and I don't recommend it unless you happen to have a strong sweet tooth who happens to like somewhat piney and menthol flavors.

Poured into a 16 oz Nordic pint glass canned on 6/10/21. Pours a very attractive hazy yellow orange with a solid finger plus sticky white head that leaves thin streaks of lace with nice retention. 4.5

Aroma is peach, pineapple, mango, passionfruit, coconut, and papaya. 4.25

Taste follows peach, pineapple, mango, passionfruit, coconut, and papaya really well balanced. 4.25

Mouthfeel is above average, not sticky or dry, soft gentle carbonation, and at 7.8% it goes down very easy. 4.5

Overall this excellent. I will be trying to get more of this one. A little different, but in a great way. 4.25

Can poured into a Toppling Goliath Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours super hazy golden amber with a frothy eggshell white head that settles to a firm layer and laces very nicely.

S: Big tropical and stone fruit dominate, some citrus, a touch of pine, faintly grassy, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Zesty citrus, lemon, lime, grapefruit, and tangerine, quickly followed by tropical and stone fruit, lots of pineapple, plus some passion fruit, mango, apricot, peach, and faint guava, spicy pine, slight herbal grassy notes, biscuity malt, and caramel sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation, chewy, with a little hop burn that becomes more pronounced as it warms.

O: I had a couple sips of this on tap yesterday and it opened noticeably sweeter than out of a can. Interesting...
Overall nice balance of flavors. I'm kinda happy the coconut notes Sabro usually throws didn't show up, which could have made this one taste too similar to Hot Dog Time Machine. My only gripe is how the hop burn really jumps out as it warms.

4 pack of 16 fl oz pull-tab cans ran me $18.99 USD plus tax.

"Double India Pale Ale"..."with Riwaka, Strata, Citra, Sabro & Amarillo hops." Collab with Lua Brewing.

Has a tired tropical fruit emphasis with notes of lychee, kumquat, and tangerine pulp.

Like it, don't love it.

Thanks to Jeff for this one. 16oz. can into a Founders snifter.

Pours crystal clear with a big, foamy, 2 finger head with great retention and lace. A great- looking beer! Nose is Haribo peach, pineapple, cane sugar, and citrus fruit. Aromatic but not particularly distinguished. Beer opens cane sugar, candy corn, and overripe peach. I get mango and citrus in the middle with a watery pineapple at the end. Sweet, melon on the aftertaste. Solid. Body is light with moderate carbonation. Smooth and slightly watery on the palate and goes down quenching, crisp, and drinkable. Clean aftertaste.

A beer with a hazy IPA nose and flavor profile but looks like a classic IPA? I'll take it!

I got a can of this beer off the single shelf from my local beer store located just around the corner. It poured a hazy golden with white head that is leaving some lace. The scent had magnificent tropical fruit peel notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with sweet ripe tropical fruit base and bitter tangerine highlights. The mouthfeel was medium in body and had good carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.
