16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of bubbly foam. It left sudsy trails of lace on the glass. It smelled of pineapple, guava, orange peel and toasted caramel. Bold tropical fruit juice taste with a sharp, piney bitterness. Sweet caramel and toffee backbone.

Gold in color with lots of small floaties suspended within the body. There’s a three quarter inch head of densely packed off white on top. Light lacing is present. The aroma is of dank lemon lime, as well as melon. I’m tasting lemon lime hops, melon, and light, crackery malt. The mouth is light and faintly sticky.

Pours a bright, hazy orange color with LOADS of floaties and a creamy white head that provides nice lacing. But those floaties - as the beer settles, there’s a snowdrift of floaties at the bottom of the glass, so if you don’t like floaties, this beer may not be your jam. I don’t mind them (though I’ve NEVER seen a snowdrift of floaties in my glass), so all systems “go.”

The nose and taste are world class, though - big citrus notes of tangerine and passion fruit, and that same passion fruit and tangerine on the taste, with the addition of an orange creamsicle flavor which is outstanding and very reminiscent of Julius.

Yep, I typed that.

A full and slightly creamy mouthfeel is on point and fitting for this excellent hazy. Very well done by TG.

PKG: 04/29/22

Poured into a Trillium glass a very nice cloudy pale yellow color, with some very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger plus off-white head, which also leaves some very nice sticky lacing behind. The nose is very nice, hoppy, malty, with a very nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, mango, peach, nectarine, apricot, passion fruit, cantaloupe), with a very nice diesel like. The taste is very nice, hoppy, malty, with a very nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple, mango, peach, nectarine, apricot, passion fruit, cantaloupe), with a very nice diesel like. Medium body, ABV is hidden very nicely, with a pretty nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a very tasty beer. Very nice to see it around here. Orange Julius! Addictive! MilkShake!

Appearance: Pours a slightly hazy (70% clarity) medium orange color with a ton of white sediment floating in the glass. A large white head that lingers. The haziness fades as the sediment settles. (3.75)

Aroma: Moderate aromas upfront of orange, peach, canteloupe. Some tropical notes as well. (4.25)

Flavor: Strong and fruity flavors of orange, passionfruit, peach, nectarine, and some canteloupe. Not too juicy, but absolutely zero hop burn. Definitely fruity. Leans sweet. Some warm orange juice or canteloupe develop more as the sweetness lingers on the finish. (4.25)

Feel: Medium-bodied. Moderate carbonation. Slightly sweet. Juicy, but no hop burn. Goes down extremely clean. (4.00)

Compared to King Sue 6/10/22: Pours a darker color, less hazy, but more sediment. Similar head. Stronger aromas. More peach notes. Less orange citrus flower. Nearly identical though. Winner: King Sue (barely)

Compared to TG/OH 18 Hours from Brooklyn 7/29/22: Pours a similar color with more sediment in the glass. More sweet orange, pineapple, canteloupe melon. Less citrus flower, white grape, lychee. Sweeter with more plastic. Winner: 18 Hours from Brooklyn.

Overall: Another well-done NEIPA from Toppling Goliath as expected. This one showcases the Citra hops well with orange, peach, and canteloupe. I don't get as much Passionfruit as the label describes, but definely the orange and canteloupe. Similar to their King Sue, but slightly different. (Rating: 4.20)

When Citra hops were first introduced, each and every tastebud moaned with a tone of ecstasy. As the production and use of Citra have waned, Toppling Goliath is bent on bringing that flavor euphoria back.

Pouring a glowing but turbid haze, Citroid grabs the attention of the olfactories immediately with a bursting perfume of radiant and ripe tangerine laced with complementary citrus, tropical fruit, stone fruit, melon and herb. It's early palate is quite sweet though, with the underlying current of cereal, pastry dough and a floral honey maltiness.

As the Citra hops erupt on the middle palate, all the character of the nose arises in a fresh, branch ripe and succulent taste of mandarin orange, valincia, tangerine and blood orange. Juicy, rounded and plump, the additional hop character of red grapefruit, mango, apricot and cantaloupe carry the taste into a sherbet and sangria direction. As its herbal flavors rise in finish, they do so with sticky and sweet resins seemingly of green tea, cannabis, verbena and sassafras.

Full, creamy and trending malty-dry, the Double IPA finishes on the bitter side of bittersweet with an extension of sweetened spruce, hemp, peppery grasses and geranium, and with a gin-like alcohol bite.

A: The beer is very hazy to cloudy pale yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that left a narrow collar around the edge, a patch of bubbles on the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of lime and orange citrus are present in the nose along with hints of pine.
T: The taste has flavors of passion fruit and pineapple along with notes of honeydew melon and lychee.
M: It feels medium-bodied and a bit crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is bursting with hop aromas and flavors, particularly those of Citra.

A - Opaque golden tan color with dense soapy white lacing.

S - Pungent and dank passion fruit, orange, and citrus dominate the nose.

T - Passion fruit, citrus rind, some residual peppery spiciness, and ends balanced with just a tad bit to the bitter side (but not by much).

M - Thick mouthfeel with some dryness on the finish.

O - This is a really fantastic beer. Highly recommended.

16oz canned 4/29/22 poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp 7.8% ABV. The beer pours opaque orange amber with copious floaties. Sticky khaki head lingers and leaves rings around the glass. The aroma is candied orange. The taste is semisweet orange juice with a tropical finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Slightly astringent. Overall, good.

The color is honey-yellow-orange with an extreme amount of white sediment. Not the most appealing. The smell consists of light fruit odors of tangerine, peach, apple, passionfruit, and cantaloupe. The taste is also light with fruit flavors of white grape, orange, lime, passionfruit, and cantaloupe. The mouthfeel is like fruit juice, with the familiar Toppling Goliath softness and zest. Very smooth and light. Overall, this beer is average for Toppling Goliath's lineup of NEIIPAs. Which still makes it a really good beer!

Pours an effervescent & hazed gold with a thumb of ivory colored head. Sediment settles to the bottom the glass, great lacing & average head retention

S: Papaya, oranges, not the beer's strongpoint

T: Grapefruit, tangerine, lime & dryness, plus a little green melon up front. Sweet oranges, powdery dryness, lime & green melon as this warms, a little grapefruit as well. Finishes with pink grapefruit, sweet oranges, lime & dryness & a little pineapple and coconut

MF: Medium body, pretty creamy carbonation, very nice balance

Superb drinkability, really delivers on the flavor
