On tap at Champps Americana in Brookfield, WI. Pours pitch black with a sexy tan head. Aroma and flavor are predominantly a big, thick, sweet imperial stout with a noticeable but subdued ginger undertone. As another reviewer commented, not fresh/pungent ginger but dried ginger like in baked goods. It's a good beer and fun to try.

From a big aluminum can, this beer is utterly black with a small, wispy head. The aroma smells like a cookie...just like the name of a beer, a sugary ginger snap. The taste is similar. My grandmother used to like ginger cookies, and this tastes like a boozy cookie, backed with a little bitterness. The ginger is not fresh ginger, like in an Asian meal, but rather a sugar, clove, cinnamon, and powdery sweet ginger in a pastry. The beer is warming, and sweet. It's okay, but a little too much.

16oz can. Can bottom is stamped 'PKG 10/19/22'. Bought as a single at Casanovas in Hudson WI.
Black colored body, with mahogany brown back lit edge. Thick finger of tan head, and this retreats to a partial cap and ring. Leaves behind an oily residue on the glass, along with a few scattered spots of lacing.
Aroma has wafts of spice - clove, ginger, and a little cinnamon. Coffee infused malts and molasses, almost a touch of black licorice.
Taste is really sweet but the spices (ginger and clove) tamp this down a bit. The cinnamon adds to the sweet experience. Chocolate brownie, some coffee, and dark molasses are later additions. I get more molasses and spices in the aftertaste, which is not as sweet.
Thick mouth feel, with syrup. Coats the mouth and tongue. Quiet carbonation.
Interesting that the ginger seems to come and go throughout the taste profile. Although this beer is sweet, I paired it with a slice of pumpkin pie, and it worked well to amplify the spices. One of these beers is plenty to enjoy the experience.

Pours a dark brown black with a 1F tan head and moderate lacing.
Smells of toasted malt, coffee, spice and booze.
Tastes of toasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, molasses, marshmallows with a spicy gingery finish.
Heavy body with almost no carbonation. Syrupy mouthfeel.
This is a big, heavy, strong and sweet dessert sipper.

In what's meant to be a can of beer split equally among a medium sized European village, Toppling Goliath doesn't just satisfy the sweet tooth with their Fresh Batch series, but they rather batter it into submission.
Ginger Snap Pastry Stout plops out of the can and into the snifter like a mousey, nougat-like used motor oil, completely opaque in its blackness and seemingly sucking the light right out of the room. As a rich chocolate mouse builds upon the rim, the overwhelming scent of chocolate, cream, graham cracker, holiday spices and sweet espresso all come to mind. An absurdly sweet taste then layers on the tongue with the dessert-like effects of a black strap molasses, death-by-chocolate and alcoholic brownie batter.
This intensely sugary, creamy and plush flavor is unrelenting as the beer expands across the middle palate and saturates each and every tastebud with batter-like consistency. As the sugars cling to the tongue, the senses keep coming back to those dessert flavors and textures as the ale trails into a sweet coffee, bittersweet morsel and slightly burnt ginger snap flavor with the session coming to a close
Ridiculously full, lush and decadent throughout, the cloying stout wins for culinary delight but is difficult to drink as the full can is a diabetic shock in the waiting. Don't look for a dessert pairing for this beer, it replaces dessert all together.

What I get from nose is a smokiness, like bbq smoke. Taste is not what I expected. More spices than ginger snap. Very sweet and did I say, very sweet?.

Pours mahogany with 2+ fingers of mocha colored head. Too vigorous a pour. Great lacing, average-ish head retention
S: Christmas spices, sugar cookies
T: Follows the nose, very dry, loads of cinnamon & ginger up front. Nore dryness & gingersnaps as this beer warms up, a touch of cocoa too. Finishes dry with plenty of gingersnap
MF: Fairly chewy, smooth carbonation
I like Ginger Snaps, so this works for me. I would've preferred it, a little less dry
