This TIPA showcases Citra and Nectaron hops for a well-balanced beer that is delicate in body with a mild bitterness in the finish. She roars with ferocious aromas of passionfruit, intense pineapple, and sweet mango.

My experience with Kaiju Sue begins with a pour into a Vagabond Brewing Glass, a relic from a sadly shuttered brewery. The result of the pour is a frothy and creamy two-fingered off-white head with excellent retention. As the head slowly dissipates, it leaves behind delicate lacing on the glass, a testament to the beer's quality. The hazy orange with straw yellow hues, measuring a solid 10 on the color charts, is a sight that piques my curiosity. Its murky clarity, filled with lots of sediment, adds to the intrigue. The appearance of this style is not just above average, it's a visual delight.
The beer's initial aromas are a burst of fruit: juicy, ripe pineapple, succulent peaches, oranges, lemons, passion fruit, and fresh mango. The malts are cracker-like, with light-toasted malts. The beer exudes a fresh and mouthwatering scent. Nosing the glass several times, I detect hints of fresh-cut grass, lightly herbal, and a skosh of Honeysuckle flowers.
Wow, the fruit-forward hops make this a juicy and succulent delight. The pineapples taste fresh and sweet, like those in Hawaii. The ripe mangoes, peaches, passion fruit, oranges, and lemons add to the fruity complexity. The solid malt backbone of crackers and light-toasted bread anchors the hops, making it an easy sipper with a high ABV. Other flavors I noticed were grass, grapefruit, resin, bay leaves, and honeysuckle flowers. The beer has a malty sweetness weave in this liquid; it is from the malts but translates into a honey element.
The mouthfeel is astringent and dry, finishing a bit crisp without being too heavy. The body is medium-plus and has medium carbonation.
Kaiju Sue is a fantastic beer with many hop flavors and has no overbearing malt profile. It is a lovely beer to sip on this slightly windy Memorial Day Weekend in Idaho—a stellar offering from Toppling Goliath.

On tap at The Brass Tap, Cedar Falls, IA; served in a 5-ounce snifter. Juicy pale yellow in appearance, with a thick snow-white head that left streaks of lacing as it receded. Huge aromas and flavors of tropical fruit, grapefruit, pine, and citrus zest alongside light malt and a pleasant umami kick. The alcohol is almost undetectable. Nice bitterness, with a crisp finish. Not sure whether this is tap-only, so it might be hard to come by. Highly recommended if you can get it, though.
