Summer Sue from Toppling Goliath. Single 12 fl oz can picked up at unknown location within the last two months for an unknown price. Reviewed 09/10/25, review 3607.
Bottom of can stamped “PKG ON 04/08/2025.” Stored at home at 40 degrees F. Served at 44.2 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is (?) degrees F. (I finished it without determining ta final temperature.)
Appearance – 4
First pour – Pale Gold (SRM 4), clear.
Body – Deep Gold (SRM 6), clear. Under direct light, same. When rear-lite, same.
Head – Average (Maximum 3.6 cm, aggressive center pour). White, high density, short retention, leaving a 2.5 – 3.5 cm crown and a thin complete cap.
Lacing – Fair.
Aroma – 3 – Odd smell, rather like moldy oranges. No malt, no alcohol.
Flavor – 3.5 – Starts with barely noticeable citrus, no malt, no alcohol (5.2 % ABV, according to the label). No yeastiness. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl. Ends dry, no gastric warming.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium: Watery: Lively carbonation.
Style: Basically, follows the style guidelines as condensed by BA.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 Uncredited art work. In general, an unremarkable beer to my taste, perhaps because I was expecting an IPA – I thought the style listing “Belgian Blonde” was a mistake, but now I see it. One and done.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, white head of foam. It left minimal lacing. It smelled of bubblegum, yeastiness, caramel and toffee. Sweet fruity taste with yeast, caramel and a mild bitterness.

Medium gold pour, slight chill haze, white head retreats quickly. Nose is citrus and yeast.
Taste is Belgian yeast, banana, citrus with pith, light kilned malt. Mouthfeel is medium with creamy texture. Finish is bready, citrus, dry yeast. Seems a bit if a hybrid, but it us tasty.

12 oz can pkgd 5/19/25 into a tulip glass.
L: Pours straw gold color with a fizzy white head that quickly recedes to thin edge soap, mixed steady carbo, no lacing.
S: Banana bread, caramel malts, Belgian yeast, a hint of orange rind.
T: Taste follows aroma and is softly bittersweet, wheat, soft traditional Belgian Ale tastes, citrus fruit, orange zest. It is floral and is gently spicy.
F: Gently brisk then smooth with a medium body and a medium-long length lightly dry finish.
O: Very good tasting and authentic re Belgian Ale. It does have a fair level of citrus power throughout each drink. It would be nice to see this beer in stubby brown bottles like many beers from Belgium. It is very good in its style.

12oz can poured into a tulip
A- pours pours a clear light-amber color with a one-finger creamy white head that has great retention and leaves some lacing behind
M- fruity and peppery yeast gives aromas of banana, clove, bubblegum and white pepper. Undertones of tangerine and light bready malt
T- fruity and peppery Belgian yeast up front gives flavors of banana, bubble gum, clove and a hint of pear. Mid-palate gives some grapefruit peel & tangerine. The finish gives some bready malt undertones with peppery and fruity yeast on the linger
M- medium body with moderate carbonation, foamy mouthfeel that turns slightly creamy into the finish
O- I think this beer has a lower ranking because most people were expecting an IPA, given the "Sue" name. But for a Belgian Blonde, it's solid!

Light amber in color. White head that quickly faded. Nose is both malty and lemon zest. Taste is much like nose, somewhat malty and somewhat lemon zest. On the back end an orange flavor comes through. Fairly dry finish.

Pours an effervescent honey color with a pinky of fast-falling beige head. Below average head retention & lacing
S: Citrus, slight rubber band notes, apricot, some herbal hop notes. Best part of this beer
T: Some orange notes, Juicy-Fruit, grassyness, faint mushroom notes, hints of honey, clover& dryness up front. Grassy, some mushroom/dirt/yeasty notes, a little citrus on this beer warms up. Finishes fruity with phenols some sweet/sour orange notes
MF: Medium body, slight carbonation on point for the style
Not a bad spin on the style, drinkable, but I like these to lean more Belgian. The other 5 of these may lurk in my fridge for a while. Maybe once it gets hot these will go down better?
