This hearty brown ale is named for its original brewer- our awesome Beerman Chad Opfer. Smoove Opferator started out as a very small experiment taproom-exclusive brown ale named “Brown Sugar.” Since then, it has undergone a name makeover and an expanded distribution to Iowa and Wisconsin. The taste is still the same as when we brewed the first small batch. Deep mahogany color with a hefty malt body. Robust flavors of roasted almonds, hints of chocolate with a slight bitterness in the finish. Oh so smoove!

22oz. Bomber

My 2700th review.

Thanks goes out to jwc215 (Joe) for sending me this one, much appreciated.

Poured into a true pint glass, a very nice dark brown color, with some nice carbonation, which leaves a small creamy/fizzy light tan head, with some nice sticky lacing and a big island in the middle of the glass. The nose is malty, with a very nice chocolate/toffee/coffee note, some sweet vanilla. The taste is very nice, malty, with some roastyness, lots of chocolate, toffee, slight coffee, slight vanilla note, sweet. Medium body with a very slight dry finish. Overall a very tasty brown ale, almost more of a stout taste. Very glad to have my first Toppling Goliath brew. Thanks Joe!

L: The beer pours bright dark brown with ruby highlights under a 3” tan foam collar with a very fine bead. The foam is clingy and persistent taking 8 minutes to drop to about 1/3 its original size.
S: The nose is nutty with some dark sugars, faint chocolate and spicy grain. T: The palate starts with lightly sweetened chocolate, some light caramel and light nut flavors with traces of tart fruit in the background. Malt flavors are medium high while the hop flavors are low and the bitterness and sweetness are medium.
F: Very creamy smooth medium to medium full body and fine soft carbonation.
O: Full flavored and easy to drink.

Got in a bomber bottle. Pours very dark, with some head. Smell is malt and maybe some molasses. Taste is sweet, with a strong malty finish. The body is medium to light, for such a dark beer. A nice, smooth drinking ale.
