Inspiration for our newest Hop Patrol IPA comes from the House of Faun in Pompeii, Italy. At this site, some of the world’s most famous mosaics were preserved under layers of ash after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. In this fashion, Pompeii IPA preserves and showcases the luxurious taste of the Mosaic hop. This single-hop IPA offers a floral aroma and a truly complex “mosaic” of taste: dark citrus and pineapple flavors, with deep earthy undertones and a persistent bitterness in the finish.

Copenhagen 14/3 2019. 47,3 cl can from Mikkeller Webshop. Pompeii in a full scale eruption on the can. Roman decorations surrounding the motif.

Pours hazy, golden yellow with medium-sized white head. Settles as creamy, dense layer of foam obscuring the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.

Aroma is intense, juicy with a citric twist and a fermented alcoholic bite. Flowery sweetness with light exotic notes meets strong citric Grape fruit and lemon.

Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, soft, creamy, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is medium sweet followed by a strong, fresh citric bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a fermented undercurrent. Light alcoholic burn. Lingers for a while.

A very fine and juicy specimen which manages to be strong without being boozy.

Cloudy orange color. Good-looking, white head. Grapefruit, melon, peach, and malt in the aroma. Juicy taste with decent hoppy bitterness. Great brew.

16 oz can from Florida with a May 2023 canning date stamped on the bottom.

Poured into a .6L beer glass that should be more than large enough to hold a 16 oz beer. It wasn't quite and some of the tall white foamy head went up and over the top. The mouthfeel did not suggest too much carbonation except that it did feel a little thinner than expected. The aroma is more dank and less fruity than the flavor.

Pkg date of 05/05/23. Poured a cloudy, golden tangerine color into a Sam Adams Tulip glass with a large, fluffy off white head that left plenty of delicate lacing. Aromas of light grainy malts, tropical fruit, grapefruit with notes of pine also present. Flavor is well balanced and follows nose with a round kinda juicy sweetness to start through mid mouth but finishes with a slightly bitter bite. Medium in body with light carbonation on the tongue. This is a great example of a single-hopped IPA that showcases the Mosaic hop beautifully. Well done!

Pours pale pinnapple juice looking, small white head ok lace.

Aroma is great pineapple, mango, tangerine light dankness.

Taste follows the nose as far as fruit notes go. Finish is dankness along with some herbal notes for a good hop bite.

Mouthfeel is medium carbonation had a light kick to it, could be more mellow.

Overall a good juicy IPA but with a good hop bite just the way I like them.

Hazy straw/orange color, big white head, amorphous lacing. Smells honey and grapefruit. Taste: Pineapple, mango, pine, some peppery bite in the back, touch of sweetness. Simple and crisply structured APA.

Look - hazy gold, soapy white head, scattered lacing
Smell - tropical, mango, pineapple, grapefruit
Taste - pineapple, mango, pine resin, tangerine, grapefruit, earthy
Feel - thin body, well carbonated, citrus bitterness lingers
Overall - 6.3% ABV. Had this a couple years ago at 5.8% and it was pretty good. I think it's even better now. A little thin but Pompeii has nice tropical flavors, pine resin and a citrus bitterness that lingers. Solid brew that pairs well with Through Glass by Stone Sour.

On draft at Jerry’s in Lincoln Square. My first Toppling Goliath. Loved it. Plenty of citrus without being overpowering, great mouthfeel, just really well constructed. Super drinkable, with lots going on all the way through to the finish. Will absolutely be looking for this again.
