The beer pours a slightly hazy orange, amber, copper in color. There is a short head of light brown foam.

The aroma is malty, a touch sweet, lightly floral and sweet, with a light bitterness.

The taste follows the aromas, along with caramel and raspberry fruit.

This is light years better than their pale ale that I had, but it is a rather ordinary amber ale. It has potential, hopefully they can tweak it. The swing top one liter bottle is cool, you rarely see them.

 

 

Bought this one on a whim when I was back home visiting. Nice packaging. Inspirational story on the label about the Cedar Rapids floods which I experienced first hand. Wish the beer was better though.

Nice appearance, clear deep amber with a persistent finger of head.

Aroma is toasty bread witha a few metallic notes. Some sweet caramel rounds it out.

Flavor is quite musty up front, tastes like they might have used a little of that flood water in the recipe :-/ Some caramel sweetness and stale bread. Not the worst beer I have ever had, but not really enjoyable either.

Body is medium/light and carbonation is not very lively but still feels fine.

Overall this is just a flat out average beer.

 

Appearance: Poured into a pint glass. The color is a light amber/rust color; it developed a chill haze straight from the bottle. A pretty pathetic head developed — minor bubbles and some lacing — and dissipated to leave a bubbly ring and a little film of foam at the top.

Smell: The aroma is sweet and malty. Lots of sweet caramel, toffee, and some chocolate. It also has some lightly toasted notes. Reminds me a little of the Red Trolley Ale I drank at Dodger Stadium — plastic cup and all — but it lacks the level of roasted and chocolate qualities.

Taste: It is a little off. It’s pretty watery and the flavors are concentrated and very sweet, which makes it taste like soda syrup mixed with too much water. The sweet caramel dominates and puckers the cheeks. It gets better as it warms, becoming more of a genuine amber/red, and it leaves a nice bitter aftertaste, but it still has a ways to go.

Drinkability: There are obviously some quality and/or packaging issues the brewer needs to address (I am willing to bet it leaves the brewery in perfect condition, but degrades due to the bottling or capping choice), but the foundation is there for a pretty good beer.

Served from a 1 liter capped bottle with a flip top cap on the side. Very cool bottle that will soon be filled with my homebrew. Poured into a Samuel Adams perfect pint glass. No freshness info.

Appearance: Pours a dark reddish/amber with a slight haze. Carbonation seems kinda low. Some foam gathers around the egdes.

Smell: Maltly with grain and toast. Rough yeasty notes.

Taste/Mouthfeel: Thin and lifeless. Flavor is very watery and almost has a cooked vegetable (DMS) to it. Mouthfeel is like drinking carbonated water. Very disappointed.

Overall: Something is definatly wrong here. I don't think the brewer meant for this beer to be the way it is. Better luck next time. )c;
