Brown ale is a style of beer made with a dark or brown malt.
The term 'brown' beer was first used by London brewers in the late 1600s. Beers termed ‘brown ale’ include sweet, low alcohol beers, malty and hoppy beers.
Jaffa like chocolate flavour, with a slight citrus accent and an aroma, bitterness, and body derived from the American varieties of hops. They range from deep amber to brown in colour. Caramel and chocolate flavours are evident, due to the roasted malt.

A - Two finger fluffy light brown head. Dark brown colour to it with mild carbonation. Good ring of lace with half a finger of retention.
S - Malty, nutty, mild hop.
T - A nice blend of really malty toast, bread, caramel, some gentle hop and sugar. Nutty and rich with some chocolate.
M - Decent carbonation, medium body, clean finish.
O/D - I few hours ago I had a Dogbolter and this is very much superior to that so I'm quite happy with the choice. The guy at the Bottle Shop suggested this and I'm happy he did. Good stuff. Not too expensive for a big bottle and worth a shot.

Pours dark brown with a large head.
Nose shows overt milk chocolate and nutty malt. Not complex, but very moreish.
Flavours carry on in that regard, though there’s less chocolate and more roasty characters.
Carbonation is a bit high and the body seems a bit watery.
A really well made brown ale.

Clear dark mahogany colour with a foamy, light tan head. Decent head retention.
Slightly dusty and earthy. Very mild roasted notes. Okay.
Slightly sharp roasted note with very light malt underlying it all. A touch earthy. Nice enough but a touch flat on the palate.
Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. Fine.
A nice little Brown Ale with reasonable flavour but it doesn't all click together.
