LoverBeer "Sour Sketch"
37.5 cl green glass bottle labeled "Brewed in 2020" and "Lotto: PSKE02-1220 Da consumarsi preferibilmente entro la fine del: 2027". Sampled on 21 January 2023
8,50€ @ Eataly, Roma, IT
Notes via stream of consciousness: A clear pinkish-copper colored body is capped by a good sized head of white foam that holds for a minute and then steadily dwindles into nothing. That's common for sour beers so there's no problem there. The aroma is delicately fruity like sweet red berries and apple, and funky like a lambic. I'm getting notes of wet straw, leather, and moderate "horse blanket". The taste is definitely tart and funky as well, and the delicate fruitiness remains. It's more like grape than the aroma suggests, and there's a little bit of astringency which is like grape skin on the teeth emphasising it. The apple and berries remain, however I should note that it's brewed with 20% grape. It's tart but not bitter, and quite refreshing. The body is light, and the carbonation is gently zesty on the tongue leaving it very much like a sparkling wine. The yeast pour dulls it a bit so be careful to let it stand undisturbed for a good amount of time before sampling, and save those lees until you've finished all of the clear stuff.
