The appearance is ruddy reddish brown, more red than brown, yet by no means red. A slight, dark beige head is loose and brief, leaving no ring or lace on a Bellegems flute glass. It is quite murky.
The aroma has a rich backbone of malt with sharp tartness from cherries that is held in check by plums and prunes. There is an interesting chocolate component that works well with mince and raisins and leads to spiced rum. A mild funkiness develops nicely with warmth as does a modest level of oak tannins.
The tartness is well below what was suggested by the aroma. Prunes, plums, and raisins fill the gap, followed by cherries. Chocolate is absent, with coffee taking its place. The tartness has a mild vinegar quality. A modest finish builds with time, then lingers. Warmth brings out faint oak and the sensation of Chianti.
The beer is nearly flat, with a medium body and soft, cushy texture. Alcohol has a mild heat about as expected.
The bottle date says 2012. I enjoyed it on what was, hopefully, the last snowfall of the 2024 season. I tried to pair it with an intense Brie, which didn't work as well as hoped.

375 ml bottle, vintage 2009, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo. ABV is 6.5%. Very murky brown colour with a pinkish hue, moderate off-white head. Strong sourish aroma, notes of red wine vinegar, oak and farmhouse / barnyard. Sour flavour, notes of red wine vinegar, lemons and oak, hints of caramel.

On tap at Beavertown Extravaganza. Aroma has musty wood barrel and fermented fruits. Taste has tart fermented cherries, bitter fruit pits and rustic wood notes.

Pours a murky redish brown with minimal head. Smells of tart cherries, light oak and some leather. Taste is sour and slightly sweet, light caramel with a sour cherry finish. Mouth feel is a little thin with light carbonation. Overall this is very enjoyable, sour but really complex, not one dimensional.

Very earthy. A little cheesy.
