I lived in Tuebingen for close to a year and frequented this place. They serve an exceptionally goof Weissbier at a reasonable price. For kicks I recommend getting the "meter of beer." for about 18 euros is I remember correctly, they will bring out 9 glasses of their "keller bier" on a meter sized plank of glasses. The food is also quite good and reasonably priced although there are many places in Tuebingen to get cheaper food. The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect of a southern German brewpub. I recommend a pitcher of the "helles weissbier" and the Kaese Spaetzle.

Comfortable, neighborhood-like location in Tubingen situated on the river. Interior had a cozy feel to it, typical of many biergartens and brewpubs in Germany. Business was very good on the evening I visited, with friendly and helpful staff. I saw the menu in at least three languages (German, English, and Italian). The beer selection was very appropriate for the spring season, with a helles bavarian weizen, a dunkelweizen, and two special beers: a "Keller" bier (unfiltered Pilsner, served cloudy with a tart yeast taste that complements the traditional Pils flavors surprisingly well), and a helles Maibock. All of the beers were good representation of their styles, with the Keller being the biggest positive surprise (this is the second time I have experienced a brew of this nature in a German brewpub, high marks for creativity in a place where you expect the styles to be followed to the letter). The Maibock packed quite a good punch with excellent malty, sweet-bready flavor and a clear golden appearance.

The menu includes traditional Swabian and Bavarian cuisine, with a nice selection of appetizers to complement the beer (various pretzels, soups, and sausages). The white sausages and pretzel complemented my dunkelweizen quite well, and my main course of pork roast and spaetzle (Swabian noodles in brown gravy) was very well prepared. The pork literally dissolved when eating and was full of flavor. Colleagues also gave very high marks to the lamb chops.

If you happen to be in this town, which is about 1/2 hr outside Stuttgart in south Germany, I would be happy to recommend it.

Situated on the scenic Neckar River in Tübingen, the Gastbrauerei Neckarmüller boasts a cozy indoor atmosphere year-round. The Biergarten is open during the summer months and is a great place to enjoy a Hefeweizen in the sun. They don't have a vast selection of beer, but their own beer makes that understandable. The food is good: a nice selection of Swabian and German specialities, as well as daily and weekly specials. If you're just passing through and want some good food at a reasonable price, then it's worth your time to stop at Neckarmüller.
