Copenhagen 8/5 2016. 50 cl can brought home from Germany by the in-laws. Thanks for that (but a strange choice). The mandatory declarations about "Dem Deutschen Reinheitsgebot" printed on the can. Apparently brewed for the German supermarket chain Edeka.

Pours clear pale yellow with a big bubbly white head. Settles as a 0,5 cm thick layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.

Aroma of malts and grain. Medium sweet with sour notes.

Soft carbonation and watery palate. Gently tingling texture.

Flavor is quite bland. A little malty sweetness balanced by a little bitterness.

Not terrible exciting - but acceptable for a Supermarket beer on an exceedingly sunny springday in Copenhagen.

now look, this is nothing special, by any means, but 1.88 average? for real? is it that bad? tastes like just below average pilsner to me. white bread malt, some floral character, lightly sweet, mildly bitter, nothing particularly astringent at all. am i crazy? last review was 6 and a half years ago to be fair, maybe the beer has changed. but, eh, yeah, it’s fine

Review: Can of Ratskrone Premium Pilsner: ABV: 4.7% (Some regions 4.9%)

Brewed according to the German purity law, like all German beers, but nice enough to remind us on the can! But its a very cheap discount beer bought from Aldi, so lets see……

Has the appearance of a clear golden yellow colour beer with a nice fluffy white head, ok looking, not bad.

Good beery smell, grainy and malty

Bit of a spicy taste initially, very sweet!!

Good enough mouthfalls I guess but overall not great at all, not much at all to get excited about.

Ok, but just too watery with little hint of alcohol, just a hint of the malts and grains.

Not much taste, bit metallic in the end.

Tasteless overall, and bland.

A discount beer, yes, but there are good discount beers out there so just cause its dead cheap doesn’t mean it should taste rubbish.

This really wasn’t great. Avoid!

Brown half-litre bottle: best before 2nd Jan 2013, poured into a 'Konig-Pilsner' stemmed o.2 litre glass three times.

Looks like a typical Lager/Pilsner: bright, clean and clear, the colour being mid-gold, the head snowy white and with staying power (for a Pilsner).

Slight metallic sniff in the nose along with hints of beery ingrediants like hops and malts, but only hints.

The taste was of dry cereal and sadly that metallic feel I got in the aroma reared it's head again in the flavours, especially as the mouth dried. Notes of sweetness in the initial taste but that soon fades away leaving a dry bittering finish and those metallic tendencies.

Cheap supermarket beer and it shows: this is the first beer in my 'Ratskrone' tasting evening, I hope the other three are better than this.
