Pours a dark amber to brown color with a fluffy, small head.

Smells of hay, whole grain bread, dough, balanced toffee and a subtle, herbal hop note.

Offers a very nice, soft, almost creamy mouthfeel, with a medium, well nuanced carbonation among a light bodied, refreshing beer.

Tastes of rustic bread, toffee, grains, resinous with a dry hop leaf note. Aqueous during the midpalate with sweeter toffee, dried earth and a metallic, coppery hint from the uprising, lively carbonation. Finishes dry with an accompanying toffee sweetness, together with a walnut quality.

Very nice, soft on the tongue with a rustic malt base and crisp, herbal hops, which especially shine in the finish.

Thanks are in order for Dr. D. who brought this to me from Germany.

Nut brown color - like an Alt Beer, not quite as dark as a dunkel. Light tan head.

Aromas of sweet roasted malts - a little saccharin perhaps, and lightly nutty.

Tastes quite the same, but it is balanced with enough hops to dry it out before it becomes too sweet or cloying.

Smooth medium body and finishes on an off-dry dark bread/ fruity malt note. I imagine the late M. Jackson may have identified this as a nice "restorative."

It seems we are in a rare little corner of Beer Advocate here: the lonely regions of beer not many people have tried because you have to leave the country to find it. That often leads to misunderstandings about exactly which beer you are rating. You will notice there are two listings for Potts Landbier here. They are the same beer. My German friend who brought this to me from the region he lives in says so, and a visit to the web sight confirms it.

Pott's Landbier, from Germany. Bottom fermented beer, 0.33 cl bottle.

Clear brown colour, good head, disappointing carbonation.

Smell and taste are quite faint. Malt, roasted malt, yeast, some mild fruits, but it's not very impressive.
But after trying carefully, there's also a distinct smell of hay, saving the whole experience to some degree.

Watery mouthfeel; A balanced, but to me, it's a boring brew.

A: Nice bold red body with almost no head. Crystal clear with visible carbonation.

S: Nice rich malty aroma. Good amount of caramel in the nose. Some bready notes.

T: Super smooth malt driven taste. There is a good amount of bread and sweetness. The germans sure know how to brew a lager.

M: Smooth as hell. Although there is visible carbonation there isn't much tingle on the tongue.

D: A nice beer all around. It doesn't stand out but that's how the germans seem to do it.
