22oz bomber purchased at Bottles in Millwood, WA, for $9.99. According to the label, this beer has 110 IBUs.

Pours a viscous black that blocks out all light. A half finger of mocha-colored foam perched on top, initially, before subsiding to a skiff. Streaky, splotchy, spider webby lace was left on the sides of the glass.

Seems more roasty malts than hops in the nose. I’ve had porters that smell like this.

The roasty malts are what are initially tasted, but then the hops kick in. They provide a balancing tangy bitterness to the dark roast coffee and cocoa that makes up the beginnings of this beer’s flavor. There’s a sharp dry note at the swallow. All in all, this beer tastes like many an Imperial Stout I’ve imbibed.

Fairly thick yet slick mouthfeel to this beer. Oddly enough, I think this is where the hybrid nature of this beer shows up the most.

This is a very tasty beer. Enough of an Impy Stout to satisfy fans of that style, and with enough of a hop bite to assuage all but the most ardent hop heads. Much as it dismays me to lavish praise on something from Pullman, this is one to seek out.
