By now probably one of the most popular beers in Munich. Our flagship beer is brewed bottom-fermented with water from our own deep well, adhering strictly to the purity law of 1516. Enthusiasts relish it's fresh hop aroma, full-bodied initial taste, and smooth mouthfeel.

I really like Zwickel as a style. I wish there were more examples to be found. This one is from a large brown bottle. The beer is a lightly hazy gold color with a thick white foam. The taste is sweet, with a wonderful, soft malt quality. The aroma has a bit of bread, mixed with some earthy hop notes. Medium in body and wonderfully drinkable.

Bottled 3/3/25; drank 12/28/25 @ the Yarchives.
Slightly cloudy pale yellow appearance; champagne bubbles throughout.
A rough pour yielded a small bright white head; almost no lacing remained.
Dry grass & faint lemon notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel with some carbonation bite.
Lemongrass & faint wheat notes on the finish.
Mild. It's drinkable but it's not one I'll seek out.

500mL bottle pours a cloudy golden yellow color with a very fluffy, substantial off-white head that slowly fades down to a thin, but very sudsy layer. Smells of crackery malts, noble hops, and a funky-fruity yeast aroma. Bready malt flavor with a hearty yeast flavor that has the faintest hints of a fruity flavor like a hefeweizen. Medium-bodied with mild malt sweetness, light herbal noble hop flavor, mild bitterness, a long finish, and a slightly sweet yeasty aftetaste.
This was a pretty good beer, but it didn't really "wow" me. Looking forward to trying more beers in the Zwickel and Keller style since this is probably only the third or fourth I've tried.

L:
-pours a hazy bright golden with a medium,to-big,foamy,white head
-medium-to-high carbonation visible
S:
-green apple,lemon,pears,cereal malt
T:
-Follows the nose
-low bitterniss
F:
-medium carbonation
-light-to-medium body
O:
The Brewery describes this as an "unfiltered Helles", which explains the mild hopping compared to a typical Keller/Zwicklbier.
The Beer is a bit more fruity than a usual Helles, but a bit too delicate for me.

500ml bottle. Poured out a slightly cloudy, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left some sudsy foam. It smelled of biscuity malt, caramel and toffee. Sweet beady taste with toasted caramel and a mild bitterness.

Half liter bottle dated best by 06.07.24. After just having a proper Kellerbier, this is definitely more of a Zwickl although it’s tough to tell. Golden yellow, unfiltered. Nose and flavor are bright, pretty fruity and funky, lots of yeast, plenty of grass and grain, a bit of barn. Fresh and smooth, big flavor, really a joy to drink. Great example of the style. Wouldn’t hesitate to drink again, especially at the price. Much better than the average score reflects.

Hazy golden color. Malty metallic smell (like a coin). Medium carbonation. Short finish. Sweet taste, thin body. Did not get it.

De Labirratorium. En copa de hefe de Bavaria. Jugando a Fortnite. Una lager limpia y ligera, quizás más de lo deseable, echándose en falta mayor presencia de la malta y quedando algo aburrida.

Giesinger Bräu "Untergiesinger Erhellung"
3,40€/,5L vom fass at the brewery on 20.09.2017
Notes: 5.3% abv. Slightly hazy straw gold body beneath a short head of bright white foam. The aroma displays grainy malt, a hint of apple-like fruitiness, and some grassiness. The flavor follows with sweetish grainy malt, some floral character, and grassiness in the finish. A moderate bitterness balances it and it finishes dry. Light-medium in body and delicately crisp with a fine-bubbled, seemingly natural carbonation that leaves it smooth across the tongue. Quite pleasant, and remarkably easy to drink.
