I enjoyed drinking this, but it was too sour. Very juicy and has a fair amount of bitterness. However I expected more of a strong hop profile from a west coast IPA rather than the overpowering citrus tartness that I got. If you are a fan of sours, you might like this more than I did.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with a big three finger white head with great retention and thick lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt, grassy hops with a light cinnamon note, orange citrus. Flavor is neutral malt with mild caramel, piney and light citrus hops, pine needles, grapefruit and lemon rind, the same odd but appealing earthy spice (cinnamon? mace?), graperfruit citrus; finishes a little harsh, but with residual resinous pine and alpha hop bitterness. Medium bodied with light creaminess and sharp carbonation. An interesting IPA that sometimes tastes unintegrated, there are brief suggestions of citrus rind tartness and astringent hops, but the earthy spice and interesting hop bill redeem this IPA and left me wanting to keep tasting it. A little uneven, but overall flavorful and interesting IPA. Not sure I get the "early California craft" meme for this but it is an interesting IPA that does not fit the current trendy styles.

Appearance - Pours a golden amber with three fingers of foamy cream coloured head.
Smell - citrus and piney hops, citrus fruits, bready malts, and caramel.
Taste - Citrus, leafy, and piney hops followed by a hint of pine resin. The brew then follows through with pleasant citrus fruit notes, bready malts, and caramel.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes with a pleasant smoothness alongside a nice stickiness and bitterness from the hops.
Overall - An IPA that pays homage to the "Calfornia IPA" style. The hops are done to a tee and has an excellent body.
