I feel like I've been waiting for a Gateway to show up on the Pittsburgh beer scene for some time. The beer selection here is smokin', by Pittsburgh standards. And it's all neatly organized in coolers. I've heard that the pizza here is really good, but that is from someone whose opinions on food I wouldn't really trust too much. Anyways. If you want a beer spot, this is a good place to hit up. Plus, it's only about 200 yards and practically on the other side of the street from D's in Monroeville. Seriously. What do you have to lose? (Nothing.)

I was happy to find this place. The prices at the six-pack shop are good compared to most other options in Monroeville. Not quite as cheap as House of 1000 Beers in New Kensington, but not as expensive as D's Six Pax. Decent selection too.
The draft beer selection is awesome. A bit pricey for some, but where else can you find Espresso Oak Aged Yeti on draft!
Decent atmosphere, awesome appetizers to go with the draft selection. Didn't get a chance to try an entree, but the menu had a wide variety to choose from.

Every time I stop in Monreville for a beer run I run in to see if they have anything new. As described they do have a nice menu and I wish I had taken a look at the bar menu but I usually come in for the bottle shop.

At the counter you get a nice run-up of all new beers added all the way to the back area where you can find room temp bottles.

There really is no set "mix a six" price but picking up what I was looking for only came to 16 bucks (Two Crooked Tree's, Two Happy Endings RIS, one Victory Hop Wallop, and one Heavy Sea's Black Cannon. Single prices aside this place will try and rip you a new one on rare releases you can't find anywhere else (ST Curve 3, ST Oak aged Unearthy, Weyerbacher Riserva) all over the 12 dollar mark! And no telling how old some of the beer is so watch your dates (I swear those Hop Stoopid's have been there for months...)

Aside from that you can find great deals there and a decent selection (got 4 Flying Dog coffee stouts for 9 bucks now at D's for 3.75 a bottle)

Great bottle shop that I only wish was closer to home!

This is really two places, one a restaurant and bar, the other a bottle shop, both housed in the same building and connected by a shared passageway. There is no way to create two separate entries on this site, so this review will be for both.

The restaurant was in the west end of the building, accessed through a short vestibule with the seating area off to the right. The grill and kitchen area were visible to the left of the entryway along with a two-door cooler. The restaurant area was mostly standard tables and chairs with some booth seating. There was also an inverted "L"-shaped bar with sixteen taps, four of which were micros. I did not eat, having just eaten a little while previously.

The bottle shop was in the east end of the building, and just inside the door, to the left, were two two-door coolers. Ten five-shelf coolers ran along the west wall. Another two-door cooler sat on the north end of the space as well as a number of shelves of room temperature beer. There was a bank of five rotating taps attached to the counter. They hold a free beer tasting every Wednesday from 9 to 10 PM.
