Picked up a single from the Craft Beer Hop Stop cooler 12-19-18 for $3.75. No canning date; consumed 3-30-18.
Beer poured black with a pretty good tan head that dissipated quickly.
Nose is moderate coffee tinged malts.
Taste is coffee forward with a touch of chocolate over a huge malt base. Finish is balanced from the ample hop addition. A nice warming in the after-sip.
Mouthfeel is full bodied and very smooth.
Overall this is a nice underrated imperial stout. Reminds me of a lighter version of BCS. Check it out if you like the style, the price is right!

Hessfest 7 pours a a jet black and relatively thick with a small tan head that quickly faded. The smell is big roasted notes, from the coffee, as well as the malts. There's a bit of a woody or barrel aged characteristic, some chocolates and a hint of alcohol. Taste is very big. Roasted coffee and chocolate, with a slightly sweet cocoa, hints of rye and black licorice. It's well balanced, but a bit boozy. Strong hop presence at 75 IBU which gives a bit of an unwanted bitterness.
