***WARNING****

***BEWARE***

I’m more than a little hesitant to add this review as I think the two bottles I sampled were infected, but I will add my two cents on what was there..
---Dark black color. Medium head. Aroma is malty and choclately. A light bodied stout. I think this bottle is infected as I am picking up a lactic wine like quality that shouldn’t be here. Malts are roasted and a touch chocolate. Hops and other qualities are masked by the sourness. Mouthfeel is thin. Rest is impossible to judge.

Pours out to the usual, dark color of the style with next to no head. Aroma is that of roasted malt and not much else. Taste is good, albeit it someone average. It is a bit on the thin side without a ton of oomph that many stouts give. This would be a good stout to give to someone jumping up from Guinness.

Two hairs shy of black, with deep, murky crimson when held to light. Thin, soapy dark tan head manages sparse, rutted lace. Carboncaeous, slightly smokey roasted barley and black malt at first in aroma is supplemented by toffeeish caramel sweetness and a hint of grassy hops. Understated notes of bittersweet dark chocolate. Clean, but prosaic aromawise. Roasted barley bitterness upfront in flavor lingers, and eventually tapers to allow tart, lightly smokey black patent to provide a burnt component. Mild hop bitterness allows non descript dark caramel malt to contrast the deeply roasted grain presence. Malt sweetness ends abruptly, leaving a combination of residual roasted grain bitterness and slight tartness, akin to unhopped starter wort with a few kernels of black patent thrown in. Lightly bodied, and approaching watery. Finishes dry and overly attenuated with a token burnt bread impression, but clean and bland otherwise. A most unimpressive, insipid stout. It's perhaps a great stout to use for a chili base, though.

Pours without much fanfare, the creamy off-white head forms slowly and lasts only a short time. Very little carbonation. A dark brown color with ruby hints. Smooth but not creamy. Nose is roasty chocolate malts and a sweet stout, it is not as heavy as I expected and finishes thin. The ABV is 5.9%.

This stout poured a not nearly dark enough brown and the tan head was weak and not long lasting. The initial impression was of a watery stout. The roasted malts were quite strong and made the aroma one of its best features. The chocolate taste was quite good and the taste was balanced but leaning toward the grains. The mouthfeel was nearly as weak as its appearance. My tongue did not feel bathed in cream or even dipped in a thick beer. It was an enjoyable beer to drink but was not to style. I would not recommend it except as a session brew.
