A 500ml bottle with a BB of Aug 2018. Purchased recently from ALDI. Described on the label as an amber ale brewed with five British hop varieties - Bramling Cross, EKG, First Gold, Challenger and Admiral.
A: Poured into a tulip pint glass. A clear coppery-amber colour with good carbonation. Forms a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or two before subsiding to a persistent surface layer. Slight lacing.
S: Aroma of fruity ale yeast with hints of caramel malt, stewed hops, hay/twigs and a touch of wet cardboard. Faintly harsh. Underwhelming, especially for a beer made with five hop varieties.
T: Tastes of caramel malt with notes of fruity ale yeast, leafy stewed hops, hay and a twinge of cardboard. A mildly acrid bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with spritzy carbonation and decent body for the strength. Bit too prickly. Aftertaste of bitter stewed hops, ale yeast and malt.
O: Meh. Looks OK, while the aroma and flavour are a predictable mix of caramel malt, fruity yeast and harsh stewed hops. Average body; bit too carbonated. Doesn't live up to the claims on the label and falls directly into the category of boring brown beer. No need to seek it out.

Very light brown body with big foaming white
Aroma is nice toffee and barley but where are the 5 hops?
The taste is like wholemeal bread with a little bitter finish
this is good
but where are the 5 hops?
