L- Deep amber, clear, pours with 2mm fine white head.
S- Contemporary fruit notes.
T- Tastes like a good solid IPA to me, more of the trad-style. Despite it's name it doesn't come over as a hipster over-statement.
M- Bright and refreshing, good going for a pretty punchy 6.0% IPA.
O- What to make of this? This brewery's Old Tom Ale is about as trad and as epic as an ale fan could wish for. That's a good start and gives one hope for other beers from the company. Here is the suggested, Beardo by name, with a beardo on the lable too. The brewery have restrained his wilder impulses though and steered this into an adult and sophisticated brew.
330ml bottle. BBE@ May-2020. Bought from Co-Op Mulbarton, that for a city-dweller is out in remoter Norfolk/UK £2.00

A 330ml bottle with a BB of Sept 2019. Purchased recently from Lidl. Described as an IPA for serious Beardos.
A: Poured into an IPA glass. A deep orange-amber hue with good clarity and plentiful carbonation. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a while before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing.
S: Aroma of leafy hops with hints of stewed leaves, overdone veg, cardboard, caramel malt, faint barley sugar and ale yeast. Not great and not much like an IPA.
T: Tastes of caramel malt with notes of barley sugar, stewed hops, leafiness, herbs, overcooked veggies, cardboard, ale yeast and vague earthiness. Slightly sweet, followed by a substantial leafy bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and good body. Somewhat astringent, dries the palate. Aftertaste of bitter leafy hops, stewed leaves, caramel malt and ale yeast.
O: No great shakes - this is a pretty poor effort for an IPA. Looks alright, however the aroma and flavour are lacking in hop aromatics and character. Off-notes lurk in the background. Body is OK. Not particularly enjoyable; the malt is reasonable but the overall recipe needs some serious tweaking. Give it a miss.

My second IPA from Robinsons, after 9 Hop IPA. This time we are dealing with a proper English Ale - or rather an IPA, but with full on English hops and in an English manner. Although I prefer US IPAs from the West Coast, I like English Ales as well but somehow I am not that fond of English IPAs... and this one has a typical English sweet maltiness to it that is a bit too much for me for an IPA...
Again, it is not bad but just wasn't the right one for me.

Pour the color of apple juice, smells like apple juice and has an apple juice flavor to it. Not your typical IPA color, nose or flavor. It is drinkable, but calling it an IPA is flat-out wrong.

Bottled
Pours a copper coloured body with huge foaming thick white head that retreats but keeps the surface covered
Aroma is dish soap/washing up liquid, not even lemon
There is a citrus element to the flavour but it's unbalanced & too soapy
I don't know where exactly it's gone wrong but it has gone wrong
Return review
So my pouring is more robust giving a clear golden body with big white head,
Aroma is a pleasing malt lemon
Flavour is obviously influenced hop oil making an unbalanced badly added hop oil generates something like drinking a beer from a can that has had a cigarette put out in it

Bottle. Light amber with a thin head.
Earthy hop aroma. Slightly citrus and a bit of malt detected.
Demi-sec. Hops and malt flavour separate as it passes along the tongue.
Not quite right.
