Tasted at the Three Greyhounds, Soho, Central London.
A: chestnut brown hue with great clarity and a slowly fading-out loosely-foamy beer head.
S: pronounced burned sugar upfront, almost like caramel coating on top of a cream brulee... dark maltiness, sour-sweet raisins, canned black cherries, and good-depth Fuggles hoppyness all mingle together... Not terribly complex but, honestly, very enticing~~
T: fruity flavour comes with assertive caramel-ness... relatively mild entry of dark malts, leading to a dryish and almost crisp finish with abundant aroma of Fuggles hops lingering on the palate.
M&D: the body is a bit thin and texture slightly watery, but this is a light ale anyway and the lingering dryish bitterness makes up for the lack of robust structure. All in all, I'm not sure if this beer is in anyway related to Robinson's "Old Tom", but the caramelly feature seems to ring a bell. It sits in b/w a mild and malty bitter. Whatever style it should belong to, this is a decent beer for me.
