Is this the clunkiest name for a beer ever? I think so....

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Aug 2012. Picked up at last year's Sainsbury's beer festival - about time I cracked it. Described on the label as a hoppy, refreshing beer with a ginger kick.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A deep coppery-amber colour with low carbonation. Forms a small head of white foam that dissipates rapidly. Aroma of mild caramel malt with a distinctive ginger note and a hint of wet cardboard in the background.

Tastes gingery, with a spicy kick. A hint of caramel malt blends with the ginger, and a stale hint persists in the background. No sign of hops, aromatic or otherwise. A fiery heat envelops the tongue upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and spicy, but the body is insubstantial. Aftertaste of hot, peppery ginger.

It's OK, but rather one-dimensional. A few sips in and the ginger takes over. No sign of any hops contributing to the flavour. Refreshing, and great if you love ginger, but it doesn't have much else going for it. No need to seek it out.
