A 500ml bottle with a BB of April 2014, so it's a little out of date. Acquired a while back from a supermarket. Obviously intended to be paired with curry, but I'm having it on its own. The label describes it as a lager brewed with rice and hopped with Stellar and Cascade.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A hazy golden-amber colour with some floating sediment and good carbonation. Forms a decent head of creamy white foam that lasts for a minute or two before collapsing. Aroma of sweetish light malt with hints of honey, fruity ale yeast, grass/hay, faint floral hints and a twinge of stewed leaves. Perhaps a delicate peppery twang in the background. OK but nowt special.

Tastes of light malt with a sweet character and a lingering, yeasty finish. Notes of mild grain, a touch of caramel, honey, grass/hay, faint floral hints, fruity ale yeast and stewed leaves. Slightly sweet, followed by a mild yeastiness and a subtle earthiness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and decent body. Vaguely astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of fruity yeast esters, mild grassy hops and faint malt.

It's alright, if a little ho-hum. Looks OK, but the head doesn't stick around. The aroma and flavour are a dull mix of light malt, subtle hops and yeast notes. Mildly sweet, almost like it contains a dollop of honey. Body is nice enough. On the bland side, though I can imagine this pairing quite well with a curry. Wouldn't draw attention away from the food. Drinkable but no need to seek it out.

One of a set of three 'a beer to with' food selection (Chicken and Beef, being the other two).

500ml bottle: BBD Mar 2014. Opened on 5 Sep 2013 and taken with an Indonesian Beef Rendang, nasi Kuning and Chilli Sambal.

It works; really thought the flavours in the beer suited the curry very well. Would I have enjoyed the lager as much on it's own? Most likely not.

Pours a typical golden bodied lager with the regular thin and fading white head.

The aroma was a mixture of mild citrusy hops and lightly roasted malts: the taste followed in the same vain, nothing too strong or provocative, just mellow flavours and a mid-range lager/pilsner bitterness with average bite and crispness. So a middle of the road lager/pilsner really, but I thought good with my meal.
