On tap at GABS festival in Melbourne, May 2014.

Pours an amber colour, quite cloudy to the point of silty, with a nice crown of cream foam on the top. Looks good.

Smells reasonably dark: chocolate malty character upfront with a touch of walnut or brazil nut. Touch of rye spice and a slight herbal character as well. Pretty nice.

Taste is a bit more lacking on the rye notes. Grainy upfront with a touch of peanuts, develops more caramel sweetness midway and then a very subtle coriander spice hit on the back. Mostly malty with a touch of spice but just lacking the rye piquancy. Not bad but a bit simple.

Decent enough beer but it just doesn't quite reach much above the benchmark for rye beers.
