Copenhagen 8/4 2026. 44 cl can from Best of Beers chasing out the Christmas beer supply from 2025. Can in Det Lille Bryggeri's usual design in a red version with some Christmas tree decorations thrown in for good measure.
Pours opaque dark brown with a red hue and a mid-sized white head. Stable. Settles as a thin rim of foam stretching to cove the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is sweet and dark with malts and alcohol mingling with dark fruit. Dark roasted malts, plums. and brown sugar. Whiff of sour grains.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, a bit viscous, soft, smooth, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a rather strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a noticeable sweet undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry.
Sweet Belgian Dark Ale with a hint of Christmas.

Dec. 2013: 500 ml bottle, Cardinal’s Store Juleøltest. Batch #RØ390. ABV is 7.4%. Dark brown colour, moderate to low beige head. Pleasant malty aroma and flavour with notes of chocolate, brown kandij sugar and mild Christmas spices. A beer I would buy again.
