16oz can stamped 1103 01/20/22 poured into a chalice at fridge temp 8% ABV 21 IBU per can label. The beer pours mostly bright dark amber in color with ruby highlights and light khaki colored head. The head recedes to a thin ring and island of head coating the glass with lacing. The aroma is mild with clove, bready malt and banana. The taste is semisweet malt with notes of clove, molasses, burnt sugar caramel and heavily toasted malt. Minimal bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, very good. Excellent for an American attempt.

Poured from a 1-pint can into a tulip as a fairly clear reddish-brown. The foam is off-white with a 1/4" head of fine bubbles that dissipated quickly. There is not much aroma: malty sweetness with a suggestion of breadiness. The taste is similar but more distinctive, with notes of molasses and raisins. There is a sweet and slightly astringent aftertaste. The body is good, and the carbonation is on the slightly light side, but not overly so. Overall, I like this beer and will look for it again.

16oz can poured into a tulip. Pours a murky and hazy auburn; fluffy dark khaki head that falls leaving great retention and nice lacing. The aromas have lots of sweet caramel and dark fruits. Some raisins and plum along with some hints of toffee. Some red apple notes. Subtle spice notes. Lots of malts. The yeasts are subtle. The flavors are on the sweeter side, but it's nothing cloying or over the top. Lots of caramel along with some more toffee. More raisins and plum along with some black cherry in the mix. More red apple as well. The yeast notes are subtle once again. Strong malt backbone. Mild warmth in the finish, but it's not hot or boozy at all. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's very fluffy, smooth and easy to drink.
This is a solid brew. It's a little rough around the edges for the style, but it's still ultimately enjoyable. It just doesn't really remind me of a dubbel. It personally reminds me more of a scotch ale, for what it's worth.

This is a popularly priced, good value product that delivers an easy to drink experience.
It looks sharp, all brown and nice little bubbly. The aroma is fairly pronounced, all yeasty and pleasant. The taste follows suit, plenty there, but none of the tartness or bite you might expect. The mouthfeel and aftertaste are also interesting but never offensive.
I would buy this again (sooner that later I think would be a good idea) and recommend it, but mostly because it is an extremely good value and very drinkable brew. Get some!

16 ounce can into chalice, best before 6/27/2017. Pours hazy deep reddish copper/light brown color with a small dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of raisin, plum, fig, date, cherry, pear, apple, pepper, clove, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/banana, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, date, cherry, pear, apple, pepper, clove, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/banana, herbal, grass, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate yeast spiciness and light herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark fruit, cherry, pear, apple, pepper, clove, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, light nuttiness/banana, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance, and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light dryness from yeast spiciness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 8%. Overall this is a very nice Dubbel. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark/bready malt, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink for the ABV. Other than the weak aromas, this was a spot on Dubbel to style. Rich malt complexity and balanced yeast flavors. Could have used a more carbonation, but there was still a good amount. A very enjoyable offering.
