Got this one from the Duvel guy in Utrecht
From a 16oz can into a pint glass
IBU: 20
Best before 11 June 2019
Ale with milk sugars and cocoa nibs
APPEARANCE: Clear brown pour yields a two finger, slightly thinner looking, foamy, light tan head with okay retention. Bistre brown body with no real carbonation evident. Head recedes to a splotchy wisp and ring with some visible carbonation up to the top. Ring remains but leaves no real lacing down the glass.
SMELL: Milk chocolate aromas, lactose sugars and vanilla notes, cookie notes and vanilla cake as well. Hints of nuts in there too. This does indeed smell like turtles.
TASTE: Milk chocolate, milk sugars and vanilla cake flavors up front. Some more sugary sweetness at the swallow with a mild finish of vanilla cake, milk chocolate, as well as a slight nut quality lingering on the palate.
PALATE: Medium body and carbonation. Creamy enough on the palate, goes down smooth and finishes a bit dry. Good feel.
OVERALL: This is alright. It’s got some decent aroma and flavor and it feels fine to boot. I wouldn’t say this is a must-try, but it’s certainly enjoyable enough. These kinds of pastry stouts usually do better with a higher ABV base but that’s not a knock on this one. Reminds me of turtles too. Cheers!

Pours a brown color with a foamy tan head that lasts quite a while. Aromas of chocolate and vanilla. Taste is sweet with the chocolate and vanilla up front and a hint to nut throughout. Creamy and smooth.

Poured from can to tulip. Typically Milkshake Stout appearance: dark brown - near black - with a finger of mocha foam. Aromas of roast malt, cocoa, coffee, and a bit of caramel sweetness. Flavor is roasty upfront, bitter cocoa and coffee, but smooths out on the finish with cream, vanilla and caramel duking it out.

Pours dark brown. Foamy, short tan head that is short-lived.
Smells chocolate, vanilla, caramel and earthy.
Taste not very sweet. Chocolate, roast malt, earthy, caramel, light vanilla and light coffee. Finishes dry with a light roast linger. Lighter body and fizzy medium carbonation.

16oz can poured into a tulip. Pours almost black with a small khaki head that quickly fades leaving little to no retention and lacing. The aromas are subtle with maple leading the way. Hints of cocoa, chocolate and vanilla. Mild hints of coffee. Malts are there. The flavors have more maple leading the way along with some pecans and other nuts. More hints of cocoa and vanilla. Moderate bitterness. It's really sweet at all. Malts do their thing. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is light with sharp active carbonation. It's smooth and easy to drink.
This is an alright stout. I really like Rochester Mills' Milkshake Stout series although I've only had a few of them, but this one doesn't seem to have the same magic as the others that I've had. It's still not bad at all. The aromas and flavors open up a bit as it warms.

Pours very dark with a finger of head. Smells of pecans and coffee? Taste like a medium body with a little nuttiness. Overall, very happy. A nice everyday beer.

16 ounce can into pint glass, best before 9/14/2017. Pours crystal clear nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big milk chocolate, toasted pecan, caramel, brown sugar, cocoa, vanilla, cream, dark bread, light coffee/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, cocoa, lactose, and pecan notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, toasted pecan, caramel, brown sugar, cocoa, vanilla, cream, dark bread, light coffee/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, toasted pecan, caramel, brown sugar, cocoa, vanilla, cream, dark bread, light coffee/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, cocoa, lactose, and pecan flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Minimal dryness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready, and lightly silky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.25%. Overall this is a very great flavored milk stout. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, cocoa, lactose, and pecan flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Pretty rich feeling for the modest ABV. Great authentic pecan flavors that are a touch buttery, with great balance of the base beer. A really delicious offering.

I picked up a can of Rochester Mils Ninja Turtle Milkshake Stout for $2.29 at The lager Mill. I haven't been too impressed with this series, but my curiosity got the best of me with this one, so lets see how it goes. 2017 Vintage. Poured from a tall 16oz can into a Imperial pint glass.
A- The can looks nice, it goes well with the name and it's a little eye catching. It poured a nice black color that didn't let any light come through and it had a finger and half worth of fairly fizzy and slightly darker tan head that died down to a thin ring that eventually faded away and it didn't really leave any lacing behind. This is a decent looking beer, but I wish it had better lacing and head retention.
S- The aroma starts off with a lower amount of high sweetness with the pecan being the first to show up and they impart a sweet, nutty and toasted pecan like aroma and that goes into the caramel which is a little lighter than the pecans and it imparts a nice caramel flavor. Up next comes the chocolate and the malts, the chocolate has a nice cocoa like aroma to it and the malts just impart some dark malt, sweet malt and slight grainy aroma. This beer has a pretty nice aroma, the pecans really come through and that helps it live up to it's name.
T- The taste seems to be similar to the aroma, but a little lighter and it starts off with a lower amount of high sweetness with the caramel and pecans being the first to show up and this time it's the caramel that's the most noticeable and it's followed by the pecans which impart the same aspects and they are noticeable, but they are also on the lighter side. Up next comes the chocolate and the malts which are all good amount light than they were in the aroma and that gives it a little bit of a watery taste. Towards the end there's a little bit of coffee and it has a slightly lower amount of medium bitterness on the finish with a coffee, light chocolate and watery caramel like aftertaste. This is a decent tasting beer, the key flavors show up, but they are pretty light and so is the base.
M- Fairly smooth, a little creamy, medium bodied with a lower amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel id decent, but it needs to be thicker.
Overall I thought this was a decent beer and I thought it was pretty close to be average for the style, it's not bad and i like the aroma, but when it comes to the taste and mouthfeel everything is just too light. This beer had ok drinkability, one glass is enough for me. What I like the most about this beer is the aroma, it's good and pretty much all the key aspects show up just how they should. What I like the least about this beer is the taste and mouthfeel, they are just too light. I wouldn't buy this beer again, but I don't think I would turn one down and I don't think I would recommend it. All in all I this beer was just ok and when it comes down to it was pretty rough around the edges when it came to the taste and mouthfeel;. IT's not a favorite Rochester Mills beer and it's average at best for the style. Better luck next time guys, this one could use some work.
